Hey guys!!!! Sorry I'm five minutes late!!! Thank you for your patience!!! God bless you!!!🙏🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
62- DON'T LEAVE.
A soft knock on my door awakened me from my sleep. I pulled myself up from my bed and plodded towards the door, wondering who decided to disturb my sleep. After, Charles Brown had marched up the stairs and eventually barged into Caleb's room, my dad and Theresa had tried to pry answers for me.
I had suddenly developed a headache so I had told them I would like to talk later. I sincerely hope it wasn't any of them at the door. I could have ignored the knock anyway, but the way it sounded seemed like the person was reluctant to wake me up. That, I was grateful for!
I unlocked my door and pulled it open, to find Anya and Samuel at my door. I arched an eyebrow, surprised to see both of them together at my door. They were the least set of people I had expected to see. But what was similar about the two was their facial expressions. They both seemed tense and apprehensive of me telling them off. I sighed and stepped aside to make room for them to walk in. Visibly they relaxed and walked in.
"Hi. Um, we didn't mean to disturb you." Anya said, softly. Sam nodded.
"Yeah, we can come back some other time, if you want." I suppressed a chuckle. Sam was a pretty 'people-pleaser'.
"It's alright." I said. "You can both have a seat." I pointed to my bed. I caught Sam holding back his laugh. He was pretty aware of my aversion against guys sitting on my bed. I threw a playful glare at him.
"Alright. I'll get straight to the point." Anya started. "We, I mean the rest of us Brown and Pears family, are very concerned about you three." She said, referring to me, Caleb and Cory.
"Okay?" I asked, pulling a stool from beside my bedside table to sit facing them.
"Sam told us tidbits of what happened." I glanced at Sam who was staring at me hopefully. "Since you had made it plain to your dad and Theresa that you didn't want to talk about it, Sam had come to meet me."
"Please don't go." He blurted. "You guys are like a family to us. Forgive what Caleb said. He never meant it. He's just-" Sam looked away. He seemed to be struggling for a particular word.
"Mean? Unreasonable?" I decided to help. Sam shook his head, a little frown etched between his brows.
"Different. He's just different." Samuel said, softly. I sighed. The poor boy! He didn't deserve any of this at all! How could he comprehend a mean brother like that? It was pretty difficult when Caleb had an 'angelic' attitude towards him and a monstrous one to others. It would be definitely confusing.
"Well, Cory and I have made up our minds. I'm sorry, Sam." I said, before looking at Anya. "You too. You guys can stay if you want to, but I really want to leave this place."
"Nothing can change your mind?" Anya asked, cautiously. I shook my head. She sighed. "What else did Caleb say? I only know what Sam heard."
"Caleb is a monster!" I fumed, before I knew it. Sam gasped. "I don't want to talk about him. Can everyone just move on?"
"But-" Sam said before shaking his head. He stood up and stared at me with an expression that made my heart ache.
"I may not understand what my brother put you through but I'm sorry for everything." He said, glumly.
"Sam!" I said, getting up to face him. He was almost my height, these boys! "You did nothing wrong! I'm sorry your brother and I don't get along. But I promise you, it won't affect our relationship." I said, holding his hands into mine.
