25- I PROMISE
"What? You aren't seriously going to eat all that?!" Damon exclaimed at the order I had just placed. I lifted an eyebrow.
"Er- In case you haven't noticed, you literally pleaded with me to come along with you because you seemingly had an important offer for me."
"And?"
"And, that means I technically would lose my share of the afternoon meal at home. Which is why you suggested we come here. So dear, you have to make up for it." Mumbling something incomprehensible, Damon snatched the menu from my hands before I could call out more. I caught the waiter's shoulders shaking a bit.
Sighing, I took a sip of my cola drink.
"That's all." For now. Damon smirked.
"Good." I zoned out as he placed his order. It was obvious, this dude liked spicy foods.
"So." He began when he was done. "Where do I start?"
I must confess this feels so weird! I mean, I had never had a conversation with this dude and here I was, about to dine with him. It was ridiculous!
It didn't help that the dude was extremely good looking. The girls in this diner weren't merciful with their stares and envious looks. At all! Damon, like a true guy, never glanced at them, but was aware of their gazes.
"How about starting with the reason you brought me here?" I raised my brows earning a light chuckle from him.
"Well, I-I need you, Samantha." Okay, Damon didn't seem like one to stutter. That was what piqued my interest.
"Why?"
"Cecilia." Er- What?
"I don't understand Damon." I said, leaning forward and resting my arms on the table. He scratched the back of his neck.
"Well, you might wanna hear a story." He said, just as the waiter arrived with our food.
"I'm listening." I said, once everything was set on the table. Damon cleared his throat as he began.
"I used to be a student of Crystal high. Graduated last session." I nodded. That made sense since the bullies knew him. "I-I used to be a bully." My eyes went wide.
"What? Why?!" Damon winced.
"Don't judge me. Please. I regret every moment of bullying Candice Hart." His blue eyes were filled with regret as he looked at me.
"Cand-"
"Yeah. I was her bully. Well, I used to be her bully." He chuckled bitterly as he sank on his seat. "Bullying is a norm in Crystal high. The jocks are usually the main bullies."
"Tell me about it." I mumbled, rolling my eyes as I remembered soccer captain Caleb.
"I was the captain of the school's soccer team and I was the 'it' guy. Guys envied me, girls loved me, I loved myself. But Candice didn't. Well, at first. That girl despised me with every ounce of her being and that annoyed me because I loved her. I fell for Candice ever since she slapped me for making a rude comment at her when we bumped into each other in the hallway. Because that was the day I noticed her and she's never left my mind since then.
"Not to bore you with my sad story, but as it was, I bullied Candice because that was the only way I could get her attention. Gosh, she was so stubborn! And Shayne, he was always there for her. He knew when she eventually fell in love with me because he was also in love with her. He hated me the more because of that. In summary, Caleb and his group hated me for bullying Candice." The rumble of my stomach interrupted Damon, making me smile sheepishly.
