65- MOST EMBARRASSING STORY OF MY LIFE
"So Cory, what papers did you find?" Theresa asked, immediately we had all gone up to her room as she had requested after Cory spilled the news in the dining room. Cory frowned a bit.
"It was just by chance that I saw." Cory stated. "Sam needed an instrument for a project of his so we had to go into his dad's study."
"Let me guess, Mr Brown isn't generous with his study, is he?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. Cory gave a sheepish grin, then frowned a bit.
"With those papers, he definitely wouldn't be!" He mumbled.
"What did you see, Cory?" Theresa asked, and not impatiently. I had to give her credit. Of all of us, she was the most patient. She had her flaws like everyone else but I always saw in her someone who wanted to get better. She was blunt and honest, but she was peaceful, loving, patient and forgiving. A true and growing Christian.
"It was pretty confusing as he had a bunch of files on his desk. But what caught my eyes was the one which had a picture sticking out of it. It was the picture of some high school students many years back." He paused a bit, then continued, "I assure you,I spotted dad, mum, Mr Brown and Mrs Brown in that picture."
When neither Theresa nor me showed any form of surprise, Cory lifted an eyebrow.
"Are you kidding me? You guys knew they were all high school friends?" Theresa and I glanced at each other.
"Er well, it isn't exactly a private knowledge. I mean, we're literally spending our holidays here." I said, looking at anything but Cory.
"I didn't know!" Cory snapped. "I just thought they were business partners who somehow became friends."
"Okay, okay." Theresa stepped in. "We're sorry, Cory that you aren't aware of their past. I can make it up to you, by answering any question you have concerning them, which I have answers too, of course!" Cory huffed but nodded his head in acceptance.
"Great!" Theresa clapped. "Now, were those all you saw?" Cory shook his head.
"I saw some contract papers, something that I assume involved dad and Mr Brown. I don't know if there was anyone else but I did see dad's name. I couldn't do a thorough investigation because Sam soon found what he was looking for and told me to stay away from the desk since according to him, it makes his father angry when people go through his documents and properties." Cory explained.
"Oh wow." Theresa said. "Even I don't know about any contract between dad and Mr Brown."
"It really got me thinking. I mean, we do have a right to know what the contract entails, I mean, we're his children, apparently!" Cory rolled his eyes.
"I do agree." I said. "I mean, any one of us could be involved and none of us would even know until that time." I shuddered as different weird thoughts crossed my mind.
What if there was an arranged marriage?
I sincerely hope not!
"I'll talk to dad." Theresa said, thoughtfully.

Since Rebecca was bent on our being outdoors for the remainder of the holidays, we all had to choose places to visit today. Shayne had decided to take Cory, Sam and I on a ride through the island. The island is so big and beautiful, and although we didn't tour the entire island, we did enjoy the view. No wonder Cory never complained, it seemed like there was always something new to see on the island.
Riding with Shayne was fun and I did learn a lot from the ride. Shayne is highly intelligent! He practically like knew almost everything and because it was literally the longest time I've spent talking to him personally, since Cory and Sam barely minded us, I was able to engage him in a lot of things. He wasn't only vast in the sciences, he alos knew a lot about humanities and art. It was the most fun when we talked about art and a few designs we saw as we drove by. I was pretty impressed!
