Meeting Mason

>Jonathan's POV<    

  DAY 4

        We all got to school and went our separate ways as usual. Katie's friend Lizzy didn't come up to me at all but I saw her looking at me every now and then. I just ignored her and sat by a tree reading. While I sat there a girl with light brown hair and glasses came over to me and sat down. She sits in the grass crisscross apple sauce and sets a messenger bag down next to her.
        "Hi, I'm Mason. My parents believe in working hard so they gave me a strong hard working name. You're Jonathan right?" She asks, sticking out her hand.
        "Ya, I'm Jonathan. Why haven't I seen you around before?" I ask setting my book aside.
        "I normally hide in the library or one of the class rooms. The jocks don't exactly like the fact that I exist so I try to make it easy for them to think I don't. If they notice me then they start to pick on me, humiliate me, and in some rear cases beat me. They don't seam to bother you though. I heard that you beat up Trevor... Why?" She lowers her eyes when she asks this as if she thinks I will take it the wrong way.
        "Well... he... he was going to rape Katie and I couldn't let him do that... Even if she isn't blood I still care for her and love her like a sister. She is just a really good friend of the family though." I say this slightly nervous because I don't want to let her know to much.
        "I think what you did was very brave. Trevor got what he deserved. She gave him an ego check too, hardly anyone has ever refused him. Even if they did refuse him once he would still get what he wanted when he would drag them to a party. They would feel pressured into drinking because everyone else was then they would lose their morals..." She looks at her lap as if ashamed. "That's how he gets almost everyone. Then he mocks you for it later and treats you like shit..." The last part is just a whisper.
        "I'm sorry, he shouldn't of done that to you." I say. I honestly have no idea what to say about that.
        "I survive... So, it looks like Lizzy is into you. Do you like her?"
        "No. She isn't my type. I don't really go for the stuck-up type. I have a girlfriend anyways."
        "Trust me, she doesn't care. If she sees something she likes then she has to have it. You don't know how many relationships she has ruined this year alone. Lets hope your girl isn't one to get jealous or accuse you of things."
        I talk with Mason for the rest of the morning and we sit together at lunch to. She seams like a really cool girl even though she is really reserved. You can tell some things have happened to her but she doesn't let onto it and we only just met. I will ask her about it later some time.
