Chapter 8

Chapter 8: The guest

Through meeting important people was inevitable, Jason never expected it to be so soon. One day, it suddenly happened. He woke up as usual. Cooking breakfast and eating with Chiron. After that, he would help with his teacher and if he has already know how to make that one recipe of medicine, Chiron would ask him if he would like to learn new more recipes. Jason wouldn't refuse since it was beneficial to learn them.

Then, when Chiron finish making medicine, he would teach him to read and write or he would continue to guide him when it comes to learning Archery.

But sadly for Jason's usual mornings, it wasn't those usual mornings. Things have started diverging when they are nearly finished cleaning up the tools that they used to make those herb medicines.

" Teacher Chiron, are you there? "

Jason heard a voice coming from the entrance of the cave. It was unexpected for Jason that they would have a guest suddenly coming and barging into Chiron's home. It gives him a shock. And also a feeling of fear. When it comes to people and strangers he would never get used to their presence. Being transported into this world has forced him to communicate with so many strangers, including Chiron who was previously a fictional character to him. Even he knows some things about him, meeting him in reality– he was still a stranger to him. But Jason was forced to adapt to the situation that has changed his whole life. Communicating with strangers and acclimating to them. He got now used to Chiron's presence and feel comfortable talking with the nice Centaur Teacher (and probably as somewhat Father to him). A safe and familiar presence that he would always feel complicated emotions mix through. Gratitude and a lot of guilt for replacing the real Iasōn. And also a determination and a secret promise to himself and Chiron that his life wouldn't end up as a tragedy. He wouldn't end up like those many Greek famous figures that ended up in Tragedy. Jason would determine his fate.

" Diomedes, take care of the other tools. I never expected that one of them would visit today. "

And today, Jason was certain that the person in the cave's entrance was one of those famous Greek figures. All of Chiron's students former or would-be students are known Greek figures in the mythology.

Jason sighed when he finished cleaning up the tools. He can hear their voices even it was within the distance. But he can only hear it muffled. They look so happy from the tone of their voices. After packing the tools on the shelves, he leaves Chiron's workshop.

Unlike the previous plain and wide cave from one year ago, there were now some 'walls' that separate each room. The workshop where he and Chiron would make their medicine, a kitchen, and finally a bedroom.

There wasn't a bathroom since Jason thought that he wasn't knowledgeable about it. It was beyond his skills and unfortunately, they can only do those things outside and within the near distance. Jason was ashamed of himself every time that it happens.

Jason made his way to the kitchen. As expected, he saw the guest talking to Chiron there. The guest was talking to Chiron amiably. Through Jason can see him looking around inconspicuously. Jason can discern that maybe the guest was surprised by the changes in Chiron's home. And finally, the guest has notice Jason's presence and stared at him.

Jason felt dread looking at the face of the person. Silver hair... No way... Chaotic thoughts run through inside his mind. He was having an internal panic. There's no way it's that person right?

" So, your Teacher Chiron's new student? "

Wait, this person has golden eyes. And his building was different from that person.

" My name is Aristaeus. What's your name little one? "

With a smiling and gentle expression, their guest Aristaeus asked Jason.

" I am Diomedes. "

He wasn't Asclepius. He should thank Alaya for these small miracles. But since he quite looks like that person does that mean, he was related to Asclepius? Thinking of the Olympus Gods, it was likely that this person was related to Apollo.

" Teacher, you have taken another student again. "

" Teaching youths and guiding them was one of the Joys within my life. "

" As expected of you, Chiron. This one looks adorable compared to that previous student. "

Jason watched them talk to each other feeling awkward and uncomfortable at the same time. Should he leave and go outside? Or should he prepare food for the guest? While he was thinking those thoughts, Jason could still hear them talking to each other.

" Heracles was a fine and good student. Could I ask why did you visit your teacher all of a sudden? "

Hearing that name being mentioned by Chiron in their talk, Jason was having the urge to run away and hide in a place where no one would find and disturb him.

" Your home looks different from what it was from before, Teacher. As for the reason why I am here, I just happened to encounter my half-brother. I was here for an errand to fetch herbs and magical plants for him.   "

Shit... Jason has a clue on who was that half-brother that Aristaeus was talking about. It also quite registered to Jason that the person talking to Chiron was a demi-god.

" How kind of you Aristaeus to help your little brother. "

" Kind? No, I am not kind. I am unlucky to encounter him. This day, I have a lot of work to do thanks to Father! And now because of him, I have another task piled up on me. Thinking of them makes me annoyed now. Can't they tell that I am a guy who has a lot of things pile upon his shoulders? "

Aristaeus fumed while Chiron listened attentively. This is a private thing, isn't it? Jason should leave now. Moving a bit, different from his Earlier still as a statue– because of that little movement, the two people's attention was diverted on him.

Their stares. Jason felt pressured by their gazes. It didn't help that he was in a little kid's body. He felt so small and weak compared to them.

" Where are you going little one? "

Aristaeus asked him. Jason knows that Asclepius and he are related to that kind of intense stare that the guy was giving him. He felt like he was placed in a pit full of snakes. Smiling, Jason replied in a way that doesn't come as rude but humble. He doesn't want to offend the guy.

" Since you are a guest big brother, I would go and fetch some ingredients outside from the garden and cook food for you. "

Nope, that wasn't his plan at all. He just wanted to leave and yet himself to somewhere safe and peaceful place.

" I see, I am looking forward to it. I didn't know that your little one knows how to cook. Usually, it was Teacher Chiron who cook for us students. But it seems that it was the opposite when it comes to you. You are still so young but you already know how to cook.  "

After Aristaeus finish speaking, Jason took that a sign to quickly leave Chiron's home and head outside.
