Chapter 33: Arriving in Iolcus

Indecipherable whispers and mutterings would drive people into madness and insanity. Strange creatures and strange land. An Odd-looking moon and world.

Jason has gotten a glimpse of those visions before he felt the change in surroundings and found himself in the cave with the God of Sleep Hypnos again. God was smiling at Jason appearing nonchalant of the happenings. Other red poppies bloom on God's head. As usual, God was relaxed and reclining on the strange cloud couch.

Jason narrowed his eyes and questioned the God of Sleep.

" What was that? "

He asked regarding the visions that he have just seen. Hypnos smiled at him as he picked one of the red poppies on his head.

" It wasn't time yet to know of that strange and dangerous realm, my friend. "

Jason gritted his teeth and glared at God. But it disappeared the moment that the God of Sleep has spoken once again.

" But, I could tell you what was sealed under the Aegean Sea. "

That piqued Jason's Interest. So the storm that they experienced wasn't normal?

" Okay... let me hear it. "

" The one who was sealed under the Aegean Sea is named Nyctelios. He was an Alien God. "

" What? "

Jason was shocked by the information. He has already had an inkling of what was this version of this world and lostbelt was facing and deemed dangerous by Alaya to be cut off and pruned.

Jason woke up feeling very exhausted and tired. His body was weak and aching all over. He groaned as he feel the ache and pain while. He opened his eyes and found himself in his temporary room on the ship. He rise from his makeshift bed and groaned as he feel how drained he was and tired.

He then felt the door open and saw Captain Arestor with food in his hand.

" It's good that you are awake Medes. "

The Captain approached Jason on his makeshift bed. Jason decided to make space for the Captain to sit on.

" Captain Arestor, how much time did I waste on being unconscious? "

That brought out a chuckle of Captain Arestor as he handed the food to Jason.

" A fish soup. I hope you like it. Anyway, you have spent your time being unconscious for 3 days. "

Jason nearly unclasped his hold on the bowl of fish soup as he stared at the captain with a dumbfounded expression.

3 days? How is it possible? After thinking for a while, Jason decided to accept his circumstances. Being unconscious for 3 days and waking up still alive without any support is as normal as it can get in this world.

Jason then decided to start eating the fish soup. He notice that it was warm. Jason tasted the fish soup and frowned.

It was salty and tasted very much like a fish. There was also the awful smell of the sea lingering.

" How is it? Do you like the taste? "

Captain Arestor asked. Jason shook his head. Instead of being offended, it brought out a chuckle from the Captain again.

" Alexis didn't manage to replicate the fish soup that you made for us since we are lacking from the ingredients. "

Jason listened as he eat the fish soup. After a while, when Jason finished eating, the Captain look at Jason with a serious expression on his face.

" I never know that we have a young and accomplished mage with us on tow. "

Jason flinched at the Captain's words. Jason turned to stare at the captain uncertain what would he do at Jason because of the sudden and interesting discovery.

Jason then asked with a hesitant tone.

" Would the Captain throw me on the ship? "

He doesn't want to experience those pirate-style punishments even he knows that it was still too early for the pirate era to arrive.

" Throw you? What made you think that Medes? "

Captain Arestor patted Jason's pack then he took the bowl from him.

" I am certain that you are the reason why the ship hasn't been broken under the pressure harsh waves of the sea. You have exhausted yourself to help us. I am ought to thank you for your deeds.  "

The rest of the day that Jason woke up was spent with him recovering from his exhaustion. He also found out that they have left the perimeters of the Aegean Sea. Some of the members of the crew greeted Jason and thanked him for his help. The others asked what type of magic did he use which Jason was hesitant to answer. On the other hand, Jason learned that the slave which was a person known for worshiping an evil deity was found dead after the ship left the Aegean Sea. The Captain and the others decided to throw his body at the sea with a prayer of protection offered towards Poseidon and Hades.

The body was considered a bad omen considering the events that happened and the life of the slave. It was better to throw away the body after it was found dead, pray and appease Poseidon's wrath. When Jason learned of it, he doesn't reply or offer any of his opinions regarding their decision. Inside his mind, Jason can't help but feel pity. It was too cruel to have the body thrown out of the sea and not offered a proper burial. They also made the corpse a sacrifice to Poseidon. Jason learned that it wasn't the God of Sea that cause the storm and waves on the Aegean Sea. But it was the sealed evil and alien God underneath.

Jason wondered if he would be able to help this world at all in their demise. After a while, Jason decided that it would be the worry of his future self shortly. For now, Jason would focus on the present.

A few days later, the ship arrive at the port of Iolcus. Jason has arrived at his destination. To fulfill the Original's destiny, but at the same time, to oppose and deny the fated ending.

Jason thanked the Captain and the crew as he arrive and stepped on the port of Iolcus.

" Thank you for taking care of me. "

" We are the one who was supposed to thank you for helping us evade the peril on the Aegean Sea. Take care of yourself, Medes. We all hope that we would meet you again. "

Jason nodded his head. He watched as some of the crew loaded some barrels and exchange trades with the people on the port. Eventually, after gathering supplies for their next trip, Jason watched as the ship left towards the distant blue sea. When he doesn't see the silhouette of the ship anymore, he turned his head and stared in the direction of the kingdom of Iolcus.

Jason was once again in Iolcus. And he wasn't looking forward to the events that would happen.
