Chapter 46: Mnemosyne and Defying Fate
[ Hypsipyle was a queen of Lemnos, the daughter of King Thoas of Lemnos, and the granddaughter of Dionysus and Ariadne. When the women of Lemnos killed all the males on the island, Hypsipyle saved her father Thoas. She ruled Lemnos when the Argonauts visited the island, and had two sons by Jason, the leader of the Argonauts. Later the women of Lemnos discovered that Thoas had been saved by Hypsipyle and she was sold as a slave to Lycurgus, the king of Nemea, where she became the nurse of the king's infant son Opheltes, who was killed by a serpent while in her care. She is eventually freed from her servitude by her sons. ]
In the cave of Hypnos near the river of Lethe, Jason was once again spending time with Hypnos in his dreams. But this time things were a little different than the usual casual conversation that they always have when Hypnos would call his spirit to enter the underworld while dreaming or Jason would enter Hypnos's abode by himself after Hypnos has given him the ability to enter his land of dreams years ago.
After the events on the island of Lemnos, Jason while sleeping was called by Hypnos to his abode at Erebus. Arriving, he was told by the God of Dreams to sit on the chair that was located in the middle of the red poppies.
But even if he was suspicious, over the years, Jason learned to trust this eccentric Dream God who treats him like his friend. Hypnos has been nothing but helpful to him since the 1st time he met him.
Also, the God of Sleep himself was the only one with whom Jason can freely discuss things regarding his past life. Modern things like technology, songs, anime, literature, fate shenanigans, type moons, etc.
Sometimes when he was in doubt, Hypnos can be his slash pseudo-therapist. (If only sometimes, Jason would like the God of Dreams to stop entering his trance state and start offering for Jason to eat his poppies. )
Even if it was in a dream state, Jason doesn't want to be affected by those red poppies. Jason remembers one of the things in his past life about poppies. The milky substance from the poppies is one of the ingredients in making Opium.
Nope, Jason has no plan of consuming it and becoming addicted.
" Did you finally remember? "
While sitting on the mysterious chair that makes him somehow remember things, hearing Hypno's voice put him out of his trance state. Glancing at the God of Dreams, Jason sighed.
" ..Yes. "
Jason reluctantly answered.
" .. Good, it's working. "
Hearing Hypnos relieve tone, Jason was curious and asked.
" What is this chair? "
It couldn't be a simple chair since it made Jason remember things from his past life. Things that he has forgotten like the Greek Mythology that he has read once but remained buried deep within his subconscious.
At Jason's question, Hypnos answered his young friend with a smile.
" This chair is an artifact. "
" It couldn't be yours. You are the god of sleep and dreams. Things like a chair that makes you remember that couldn't belong in your authority and domain. "
" You're right. It isn't mine. "
Hypnos admitted and continued.
" This artifact, I borrowed it. "
" From who? "
" From Lethe. "
Hearing the answer, Jason frowned. Something was wrong. Getting an idea, he thought of that word.
{ Lethe }
After a while, Jason came out of his trance and informed Hypnos.
" How can you borrow it from her if she was the goddess of forgetfulness? It was the opposite of her domain. "
" My young friend, do you remember the story of how told I you the war of titanomachia of this world happened? "
".. Yes. "
" Then you remember that I have told you that Sefar arrived in this world earlier. "
" What does that have to do with Lethe? "
" It's important... Listen, Even if the Titans and the Olympians Gods have worked together to defeat Sefar, the victory isn't exactly victorious. The Gods and Goddesses of Olympus have sacrificed their machine bodies and most of the titans have passed away and never appeared as Divine spirits. One of those spirits is Mnemosyne. "
Jason was quiet for a few seconds before he responded.
" I understand. "
" It's good that you do. "
There was a peaceful silence after a few minutes. But it was destroyed when Jason told Hypnos.
" .. I would be glad to remain ignorant of the circumstances regarding Hypsipyle. Now the knowledge of her life and how the original and her ended up copulating in another life would remain in my head. "
Jason said while he glared at the God of Sleep. The latter chuckled at the glaring expression of Jason. Hypnos doesn't appear to be offended by Jason's ungratefulness. Picking one of the red poppies on the ground and walking towards Jason and placing it on his lap, Hypnos placated.
" ..Now, now, don't be like that my young friend. Think of the positive of the knowledge instead of it being a burden on your shoulders. I know over the years you have had constant nightmares about the fate of the original Jason and Medea was a frequent visitor of your nightmares... But now, you would know that you have been successful in your attempt to thwart fate. "
Walking behind Jason, Hypnos whispers.
" The knowledge of your past life is proof and a gauge of how different things are right now. You started the journey of Argonauts 10 years earlier and there wasn't any possibility of Hypsipyle copulating with you and bearing your children since you are too young for that possibility. "
Jason sighed once again. He tried the calm down the chaotic thoughts and feelings in his mind. But the next thing that Hypnos suggested, Jason wanted to vehemently deny it.
" But maybe in the future, you can decide to copulate with her like the Original. "
" No, no, no way... "
There's no way that possibility would happen! Just imagining it was enough to make Jason sick since if that happens, Jason would be closer to the original's fate ending. He doesn't want a dangerous Medea on the path of revenge and murder coming after him!

When Jason wakes up, upon seeing the recently acquired Argonauts, the Queen of Lemnos Hypsipyle, Jason fainted at the sight of her.
Hypsipyle was displeased upon seeing that kind of reaction coming toward Diomedes upon seeing her. Asclepius has already cured the curse of Aphrodite on them, what was his problem?!
Is she Ugly that the sight of her was enough to make him faint in fright?
