AUN POV
My knuckles turned white as my palms curled rigidly. The clenching on my teeth intensified as I replayed the words I had just heard. Without thinking, my hands slammed onto the desk as I promptly stood up as soon as JungYun ended the call.
"What the heck, JungYun?" I exclaimed, my anger reached its peak after what he had done. My eyes bore a sharp, blazing gaze that seemed to burn right through his soul. How dare he manipulate my words again? "You told me to cancel our engagement, and I did."
His sarcastic response did nothing to lower my temper; if anything, it only fueled it further with his witty comebacks. "You clearly know what I meant, and yet you played your dirty games on me."
JungYun let out a sigh as he watched my enraged state. He brought his fingers to rub his temples and gave me a tired look. "What did you mean?"
"I meant to cancel the engagement because I don't want to marry you," I retorted. But JungYun remained unfazed, his disinterested gaze fixed upon me. "Not my fault, you should have elaborated more," he said dismissively, before returning to his work.
"My life is not a playground for you to play, JungYun" I assertively slammed my hand on JungYun's table, demanding his attention away from the files he was engrossed in. Clearly bothered by my attitude, he stood up and moved closer to me.
"Don't assume I'm playing with you, maybe I did once, but not anymore. I'm serious about making you my wife, baby," he declared, his stern, cold gaze fixed upon me. In response, I shot him a look filled with disdain, conveying just how much I despised him.
We locked eyes, neither of us willing to back down. My mind wandered back to the moment when JungYun announced the sudden wedding plan to my father.
Predictably, Papa was overjoyed with the news and readily agreed to it. He had envisioned his daughter starting a life with an arrogant brute. As much as I detested JungYun, a slight aversion began to grow within my father as well.
"What are you fantasizing about, baby?" JungYun's voice interrupted my thoughts. I glanced at him, noticing his frame inching closer, a smirk playing on his lips as his hand reached out to touch my cheek.
Instinctively, I took a step back, maintaining a distance from his approaching figure. JungYun understood my action and remained in his place. "Fine, I see you still don't want me to touch you, and I respect that. But things will change after our marriage, Aun."
Understanding the implications of his words, I glared at him, my jaw clenched tightly. "You're still the same," I muttered, unable to hide my frustration.
"And will be the same, baby," he responded, his tone unyielding. Unable to tolerate his obnoxious presence any longer, I stormed out of the room without saying another word. Being with him was nothing short of unbearable.
AUTHOR POV
Aun hurriedly made her way out of the office, too preoccupied with her own thoughts to notice a familiar face crossing her path. All she could think about was her impulsive decision to confront JungYun and how it had resulted in the worst outcome imaginable.
"If I hadn't come here to convince him, none of this would've happened," she muttered, oblivious to the curious stares and hushed whispers from those around her.
Jae-Min, the man she had walked by, caught sight of Aun's restless figure and couldn't help but feel perplexed. He could sense her irritation and annoyance as she emerged from JungYun's office. Instantly, he suspected that something had transpired inside.
Without wasting any time, Jae-Min entered the chairman's office, finding him engrossed in the task of reviewing important files. "Was that Aun who just left?" he asked, keeping his gaze fixed on JungYun.
