TRAUMA

"Let me hold that, Phillie. Just focus on the list." Kai said as he carried the paper bag from Phillie.

Phillie nodded. "Thanks."

Abala silang dalawa sa pag bili ng mga kailangan. Kinuha ni Phillie ang isang cart para hindi mangalay si Kai sa pag bitbit. Nangingiti si Kai habang pinapanuod si Phillie na mamili ng mga bibilhin.

"Kai." Phillie called which made him snap into reality.

Kai shook his head. "Yeah?"

May ibinaba si Phillie sa cart at nag angat ng tingin sa kaniya. "Do you live with your family?"

"Mm." Kai shook his head. "I'm in an apartment."

"Oh." Phillie nodded. "Do you have siblings? I heard you're the eldest. You have a good intuition in picking things around."

Kai chuckled. "Yeah. I have two little sisters. 10 and 8  years old."

"Really? They must look cute!" Phillie chuckled.

"H-How about you, Phillie? Do you live with your family?" He asked.

At that point, Kai realized he stepped on the line that no one can cross. Even Phillie didn't see that coming that it was shown immediately at her face. Kai licked his lower lip after he saw how her expression changed.

"Well.."  Phillie chuckled. "I was living with my father but due to personal reasons, we..yeah.."

Tumango agad si Kai. "It's fine. I shouldn't have asked that."

"Nah." Phillie smiled warmly at him. "I asked for yours so it's only fair to know mine."

"So..are you living alone?" Kai asked.

"Nope. That's the best part, actually. At least I'm not alone." Phillie said.

Kai tilted his head as he stopped himself from asking more questions.

Perhaps, is she living with her lover? He thought.

Nang matapos sila ay hinatid lang nila sa cafe ang mga pinamili at saka umuwi na. Inalok pa ni Kai si Phillie na ihatid ngunit tumanggi na ito dahil sa baka magkasalubong pa sila ni Eitan at magkaroon ng hindi pagkakaintindihan.

I'm not in the mood to explain things. She thought.

Nang makababa sa bus ay naglakad na siya pabalik sa kanilang apartment. Palubog na ang araw dahilan para magbukas na ang mga streetlights. Kita na rin ang mga anino ng mga building at iba pa dahil sa mga ilaw na iyon.

I wonder what's for dinner. She thought since she knew that Eitan's in the apartment right now.

Suddenly, she felt another tingling sensation behind her back the reason she stopped walking. Hindi siya nagiisa sa sidewalk kaya hindi siya kinabahan ngunit hindi maiwasan ang mapaisip sa kanina pa nararamdaman.

Nilingon niya ang kaniyang likod at sinuyod ng tingin ang paligid ngunit wala naman.

"Am I just tired?" She whispered, at the same time, her phone rang.

Sinagot niya agad iyon ng makita ang pangalan ni Eitan.

"Are you on your way home?" Eitan asked.

Naglakad ulit si Phillie. "Yeah. Pick me up."

"Troublesome." Eitan complained.

Phillie chuckled. "Bet you still haven't prepared dinner."

"Let's just order, okay?" Eitan asked with a few rummaging from the other line, sign that he is on his way.
