CHAPTER 37
Lan Wangji awoke as he heard the door to the room open. The tiniest breeze wafted in and the small candle beside the bed flickered with the draft.
He didn't move. He dared not to. He listened to the small familiar foot falls approach the bed.
After he had left the docks he thought about going back to the Mingshi again. But he stopped himself, and instead, ended up coming back to their room.
He had tossed and turned for what felt like hours in a restless sleep. His mind wrapped up in the millions of things he wanted to say to Wei Wuxian. How much he meant to him. That he would take his place. That he would die for him. That he couldn't dare live without him again. Yet as he lay there motionless daring not to move. He didn't know what to say. What to do...
He had so much to say. Wanted to say. But he couldn't bring himself to say them outloud.
What time was it? It felt like it was close to sunrise. How long had he been asleep?
Now, his mind raced with the things he wanted to say to Wei Wuxian.
"Lan Zhan."
He didn't move.
"I know you are awake."
Lan Wangji rolled over and opened his eyes.
The moment he looked at his beautiful partner, all his defenses and all of the things that he was planning to say left his brain.
Those beautiful eyes that he had fallen for the moment he had set eyes upon them, left him speechless again.
Why was it he always lost what he wanted to say around this man? Those beautiful, trusting, loyal, and innocent eyes.
"Lan Zhan. Why are you looking at me like that?" Wei Wuxian said bashedly.
Lan Wangji didn't say anything. Partly because he was left speechless by the man standing in front of him. The other part. Was because he didn't know how he was going to live without him again...
"Lan Zhan. Don't look at me like I have already died...."
Lan Wangji's face fell immediately and he stood quietly and quickly. Without a word, he walked briskly over to Wei Wuxian, grabbed the back of his neck, and crushed his lips into his.
The passionate kiss was filled with such fiery need that they both returned each other's efforts with fervor.
Lan Wangji's tongue probed the inside of Wei Wuxian's mouth and began to circle inside greedily sucking and yearning for more.
Wei Wuxian's hands wandered freely trying to undo the folds of fabric separating them from each other's bodies.
Lan Wangji needed this. He needed to feel the warmth and connection.
