CHAPTER 39
The next few days were uneventful. Wei Wuxian was apparently Jiang Cheng's elder brother who was the one who had brought her back from death's door. She had instantly felt an odd sensation around him. It was a very comforting feeling, almost as if she belonged. Or a sense of kinship.
He was apparently a revered cultivator and everyone spoke highly of him. Even though he was a known trouble maker and would often cause a stir with his off hand remarks.
Huang Jin could tell he was a genuinely nice person though and he was fiercely loyal to his partner. Hanguang Jun.
So that was where Hanguang Jun's mind was when he was with her. She could tell in his time spent with her that even though he was trying his best to inform her and prepare her for these upcoming days, she would often find him unfocused, his mind elsewhere.
Wei Wuxian had only recently awakened from his harrowing risk to restore her back to health.
According to Jiang Cheng he had risked his life to restore hers.
This was who she now indebted to.
He seemed extra clinging to her as well and was always asking how she was feeling and wanted her to explain everything that was thinking about.
Gosh what did he think she was going to do. Turn into a brain eating zombie or something.
It was getting rather annoying rather quickly.
The overall plan however was working. Nie Huaisang was one by one convincing the sects to join their cause for one final campaign to kill the remaining demon. Huang Jin would need time to complete the talismans to track it and then they would all gather as soon as it was done.
The only problem was their plan was working too well. Most of the sect leaders all thought she would be done soon. No matter how much she insisted and everyone who knew the situation tried as well. They all had complete confidence in her that she was close to finishing.
Oh if they only knew.
With every passing hour the worry in her heart continued to grow. She tried with all her might to remember something...anything at all...
Yet no matter how hard she tried nothing came. Save for the feelings that she got when she caught the attention of one man.
Uhggg.
She couldn't keep him out of her thoughts. Ever since they had been caught in each other's embrace the other night they hadn't had a single moment alone together. Either it was Wei Wuxian's watchful eyes or the constant tutelage of Chang Su, Huaisang and Hanguang Jun.
All in preparation for this. This...facade. That all hinged on her remembering everything.
It was a miracle alone that she was holding it all together so well.
Inside though. She wanted to scream in frustration.
She burned from within. With pure desire. Desire to know what happened to her. The desire to remember. The desire to feel those wonderful hands on her once more.
"Huang Jin." Nie Huaisang's agitated voice brought him out of her stupor.
"I'm sorry I didn't catch that." She replied, focusing on his face and a polite smile on hers.
Hers faltered as she looked at him closely. He was obviously disappointed in her.
"Nevermind. I seem to have bored you with my recollection of what had happened to you during your illness." He said hautedly. "If you are so tired you should excuse yourself and rest for a bit to regain your energy."
