NIGHTMARE
It had been hours since Jiang Cheng had watched Huang Jin quietly excuse herself up the stairs during lunch. He had sat there trying to figure out just what to do. He had been watched as she had almost lost control of her temper and seen her normally passive and beautiful face transform into a rage. It was nothing like she would normally act.
Everyone in the room had looked confused and started to speculate and murmur to themselves. It was irritating listening to the younger disciples begin to criticize her.
He slammed his tea cup down and tried to control his temper from boiling over. He was never very good at hiding it. Avoiding the rest of the cultivators looks he excused himself as well and went upstairs. He knocked on Huang Jin's door with a soft rapt, and leaned in to listen for any movement.
Nothing. He couldn't hear anything from inside the room.
He sighed heavily and turned. He felt so anxious and wanted to talk to her.
He had spent most of the week making every excuse to spend as much time with her as he could. He didn't know how much time he had left with her. This hunt wasn't going to last forever, she would return to the QingHe Nie Sect and he would have to return to Lotus Pier soon. He had duties after all and she had hers.
Jiang Cheng frowned as he turned. He needed some fresh air. Yes, that's it. Just some fresh air would help.
His thoughts swirling, he made his way to the garden in back and sat down at the edge of the small pond sitting underneath the shade of a large cherry tree.
He leaned back and rested his head on his arm and the other crossed over his eyes blocking the sun that was breaking through the beautiful red blossoms.
"What am I going to do?" he asked no one.
He really didn't have any idea. His heart ached every time he thought about leaving here. Leaving her. It was the first time in his life he felt so strongly for someone other than his Shiji or his father and mother. Was this how Wei Ying felt? He thought to himself.
No wonder he acted so rashly when it came to HuaGuang Jun.
All he could think of for the last week was the kiss they had shared. Jiang Cheng absentmindedly touched his lips. He could swear that he could still feel the lingering warmth from their brief touch. He wanted to repeat it. Many times.
"How though!?" He wailed to himself. He covered his eyes again with his arm and tried to calm himself once again. She was perfect. The yin to his yang. He had watched her closely over the last week and he was astonished to see just how strong she was. She could keep up with any of his clan easily. She could probably even beat Wei Ying if she wanted to. He smiled to himself at the thought. Wouldn't that be a sight?
As the sun beat down through the branches and foliage above Jiang Cheng grew sleepy as well. He could hear the hustle and bustle of the market faintly through the dense foliage surrounding the giant house. Coupled by the rushing river water that was a constant hum, it began to lull him to sleep as he lay peacefully on the grass by the pond.

Hours later Jiang Cheng stirred and he opened his eyes. It was late. The sun had set fully and the chill of the night had crept through the grounds. It took him a few seconds to realize just how late it was. His stomach gave a loud grumble. He gently rose and brushed off the petals that had fallen on him as he lay sleeping. Wow it was late but he needed to freshen up before returning to the rest of the fray of cultivators. A nice cool dip in the spring at the base of the mountain would be perfect to refresh his mind and cool his frayed nerves.
