34. A Choice

The moment she opened her eyes it was like all hell had broken loose. The amount of energy in the air seemed to expand tenfold whipping their robes in a hurricane like wind. Jiang Cheng stumbled backwards shielding his face from the severe wind and energy roiling off of her in waves.

Wei Wuxian immediately stopped playing, his eyes intense as he stared at her still lying on the ground. Her eyes. Oh god. It worked. How in the hell was he going to control her though? "Lan Zhan play!"

Huang Jin sat up like a bullet the blood still seeping out of her chest began to knit itself together before their eyes. Her deadpan eyes looked directly at Wei Wuxian, the erry depths black as night. She struggled to stand up and had to use her hands to catch herself, her body seeming to not be able to balance all that well on it's own, yet.

Her long black hair fell around her in a sheet around her face partially covering it. Her eyes peeking through the curtain of hair as the energy whipped around her.

Jiang Cheng audibly gulped. His hand absentmindedly reaching for his sword hilt. "Huang Jin?"

Her eyes immediately picked up the movement. It was then that the whole area began to fill with the most beautiful song. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji had joined in playing their instruments like the masters they were trying to calm her spirit.

She shook her head and her hands whipped to the sides of her head. She closed her eyes and screamed in agony, her head tilted to the sky. It sounded nothing like her. Rage, like nothing they had heard come from her mouth filled the sky.

Lan Wangji didn't even see her coming. He was too focused on putting his spiritual energy into each note. Concentrating on the notes coming from Wei Wuxian. He was distracted by the disturbing amount of blood coming from his partners qi points. They wouldn't be able to maintain this long. His eyes caught her movement too late and he had just enough time to try and begin to backpedal as she slammed into him her small tattooed fingers wrapping around his throat like a vice. It took everything in him not to draw his sword as he landed on his back hard, Huang Jin riding him down.

"Huang Jin!" He coughed before her fingers tightened on his throat and he couldn't breath as the crushing force began to close his windpipe.

Wei Wuxian stopped playing for the briefest moment and as he did he watched as the energy bloomed around her in response.

Shit. He couldn't stop or they would all die.

Jiang Cheng rushed over and grabbed Huang Jin off of Lan Wangji. He grabbed her shoulders to try and yank her off of the cultivator but as he did her head whirled around and her black eyes locked with his. There was not even a hint of recognition in them, it took him off guard and before he knew it he was sent flying by a brutal punch to the chest. Blood instantly stained his mouth and spluttered.

Huang Jin's fierce black eyes stared down at Lan Wangji, her hand on this throat tightening further. He gripped her hands trying to loosen them but they were like anvils around his throat, unmoving and unbudging. His vision began to wane and blur.

All of a sudden Huang Jin's grip released and she was sent flying by the devastating hit from a huge set of whiplike chains. She only had time to block the attack with her forearms before being thrown backwards by the brutal hit.

She landed on her feet skidding on the dock, her face contorted into a fearsome scowl, the resentful energy swirling around her.

Wen Ning landed in front of Lan Wangji, Sizhui standing next to him both their eyes trained on Huang Jin.

"Wen Ning?!" Jiang Cheng said with anger filling his eyes.

Huang Jin didn't wait for anyone to respond; she appeared in between Sizhui and Wen Ning, both hands reaching out to grab them by the wrist.
