CHAPTER 22

I don't know.

Everyday is a nightmare. Everynight is loneliness. I cried everynight knowing that I put Eros on jail. Everyday wasn't very pleasing to me.

"Ziya, pinapunta ka dito sa building. Tapos na ang leave mo diba?" Matamlay na sabi ni Celio sa kabilang linya.

I paused for a while.

"Oo, Celio. Papunta na ako."

"Sige, mag-ingat ka, Ziya."

Then I called off the line.

Hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin ko. It's been 1 week since the incident, and all I know is that Eros is still detained in City Jail. Our first trial were held the last day. It was so intense knowing that you have to lie in front of people.

"Nakita mo ba si Eros na siya mismo ang bumaril kay Lineth Amalia?" Eris spoke professionally, as she wears corporate attire, defending Eros.

It takes seconds before I answered.

"Yes."

Deep inside I was shaking. My hand, my knees and even heart, they are all shaking and trembling in fear. I was holding on to my emotion. I need to be serious and show to them that I've witnessed correctly the crime.

In my peripheral vision, I saw Eros who's now intently looking at me. Kaso hindi ko siya matingnan sa ganitong sitwasyon.

"The suspect denies the allegation on this case. Your honor, the gun evidence wasn't enough to prove that Eros shoot and attempted to kill Ms. Lineth Amalia Cordovez."

Bumalik si Eris sa kanilang table at may kinuhang papel. She submitted it to the Judge, "Your honor, that's the documentation to prove that there was a third party involve in this crime. We found another finger print on that gun."

Napatingin ako sa dokumentong ipinasa ni Eris.

I sighed heavily.

Kailangang magising muna si Lineth bago malantad ang lahat. Lalo na't hindi parin nahuhuli si Carlos, may posibilidad na papatayin si Lineth.

My mind went blank after the first trial. Attorney Fernandez is walking with us, wala si Kuya dahil trabaho siya, si Wei lang ang tanging kasama ko. Nakaantabay din ang media sa labas ng korte kaya todo ang security.

"Ziya, kailangan mong sabihin ang totoo." Si Attorney Fernandez.

I explained to him the case and scenarios of my situation. My point si Attorney, pero hindi parin ako matinag dahil hindi pa nahuhuli si Carlos and the nearby serial killing is still on going.

"I will, attorney. Pero hindi ngayon. Kailangan munang mahuli si Carlos dahil may posibilidad na kapag sasabihin ko ang totoo, were at sake! Carlos is be watching us."

Attorney Fernandez sighed.

"I'm sorry to tell you this, Ziya. Pero I don't want the El Vergara to put barriers and wrong perception on you. You have to clear the situation."

"It's okay with me, just promise me Attorney that you won't tell this to Eris."

Matagal bago nagsalita si Attorney Fernandez. Instead, we heard a heavy sigh.
