Chapter 11:

Carter POV:

I was in 2nd period, science, working on my homework, not exactly trying too hard. Standing up, I walked over to Mr. Brody's desk.

I'm telling you, this man is a cool dude.

"Mr. Brody?" I asked hopefully.

"Yes Carter?" He replied.

"Can I go get a drink?" I asked, fluttering my eyelashes like a chick would do.

Mr. Brody laughed and jabbed a thumb at the door, handing me a pass.

"Get out of here ya pansy." He said and I laughed.

I told you, he's an awesome man.

I walked out of the classroom and close the door behind me, smirking. Then I headed for the drinking fountain slowly, taking my sweet old time.

As I took a sip, I suddenly jerked back, hearing a crash coming from the lab room.

This is a moment where you're glad to be a werewolf. I quickly took off to the lab, setting the pass on the drinking fountain.

When I got to the lab I saw my beautiful mate standing menacingly in the doorway as the poor girl tucked her bleeding hand to her chest.

Immediately I grab Lux and she hisses at me, making the girl gasp and stagger backwards into a lab table.

"Get back!" I yelled to the girl, and alarm flashed through her hazel eyes. Instantly she ran to the back of the room, her eyes wide in fear.

We didn't have much time.

I struggled to hold on to my mate, growling as she struggled in my grasp.

Ironic how the first time we actually met, was that I was in this girls place.

"Lux! Snap out of it! Think of Carlisle!" I instructed, and Lux suddenly went limp.

"Oh my god... What have I done..." She said slowly, staring at the girl huddled up in the back of the classroom. I held her close to me, soothing her.

"What have I done?" Lux kept repeating over and over in a mumble, her eyes returning to their beautiful purple state.

It was silent for a moment as the girl in the back of the classroom stared at us with wide eyes of terror and confusion. The two of us kept pressed together, with me calming Lux as she worriedly whispered to herself.

But the silence only lasted for a minute as Mr. Brody ran into the room with wide eyes as well. I immediately released Lux before he could notice.

His eyes grazed over the room, taking in the couple of broken beakers and test tubes that had fallen in the previous events.

"What happened here?" He asked in shock, flipping on the lights. We all opened our mouths, struggling to explain. Finally Lux spoke up, brushing a long strand of her glossy black hair over her shoulder.

"Well this girl-" Lux said gesturing for the girl to say her name.

"Jackie." The girl said, barely above a whisper.

"Yes, Jackie, must've knocked into a shelf and cut herself on the glass trying to clean it up. Carter and I were in the hallway-" Lux explained and I quickly covered.

"Getting a drink." I instantly added, and Mr. Brody smirked, raising an eyebrow.

"And heard the crash, before going to go see what happened." Lux said. I smiled.

Sheer genius.

I snuck a smile in her direction and she warily returned it, obviously still disturbed with herself.

Mr. Brody began to walk back to Jackie, who still looked absolutely terrified.

"Well then, I suppose we should bring you to the nurse then Jackie." Mr. Brody said, ascorting her out.

"As for you two," Mr. Brody said suspiciously, giving me a smirk.

"Get back to class." He instructed and we immediately stepped out of the lab, turning off the lights, and closing the door.

"Yes sir." We said together and walked off to our classes. When we were off alone, I looked at Lux.

"Well that was close." I said jokingly and she shook her head.

"Too close." Lux said, closing her eyes. I leaned down to plant a kiss on her cool forehead.

"Hey it's okay." I said, sad that she was upset with herself. Lux opened her eyes and shook her head again.

"No it's not." She said and I opened my mouth to protest, but she cut me off.

"Just don't, I'll see you in Homeroom." Lux said and walked into Mrs. Hugh's room without another room.

At the end of science, I turned in my worksheet, and Mr. Brody held me back.

"Oh Carter come here for a minute." He called teasingly and I braced myself, heading for his desk.

"Yeah Mr. B?" I asked.

"Next time, try to be less suspicious when you leave class to make out with a girl in the lab." Mr. Brody winked, I opened my mouth to protest, but he cut me off.

"I won't report you, now get to class before your late." He said and shooed me out of the room.

Making out?
