Chapter 12:

Lux POV:

The rest of the day was slow, seemingly endless. The pretty girl I had tried to kill, was still in the nurse's office from what I understood, and I was DREADING her confrontation.

It was in 4th hour when a soul was brave enough to approach me, and as they did, I had wished they hadn't.

"Hey there!" A petite little brunette said loudly, scaring me. I jumped, and tried with all my might not to turn invisible.

Like I had explained before, this was a painstaking task.

"Oh I'm sorry did I scare you!?" The girl asked with over animated concern. Once I had myself under control, I scowled at her.

"Hardly." I said, nearly growling.

Normally I would have made an effort to be polite, but after second hour, my day was ruined. I was too damn disappointed in myself. I almost killed an innocent girl.

"So you're new to FHS right?" The girl rambled on with bright eyes and a smile, totally oblivious to my dampened mood. I sighed and then surrendered, forcing a tiny smile.

"Yes." I answered, waiting for an attack of more questions, and I got a feeling that they would never stop.

"Oh my god that's so exciting! GOOOO SPARTANS!" She yelled, making Mr. Derwin give us the evil eye. I rolled my eyes at the girl.

"Oopsies, sorry! I'm Gretchen Daniels, student body rep, captain of the softball team, and active member of the drama department." Gretchen said proudly, beaming her pearly whites.

"Lux Cullen." I said, taking her hand. She gasped, grinning.

"You're a Cullen? That would explain why you're so pretty, every guy in school can't take their eyes of you!" Gretchen giggled, and I smiled warily, not quite reaching my eyes.

"I'm not too sure about that..." I said, and she cut me off, raising a hand in protest.

"Don't even." Gretchen said smiling.

Okay so this girl is super sweet.... But annoying.... But nice enough.

"So do you want a lunch buddy? What hour do you have lunch?" She asked and I had to smile. I couldn't help but compare her to an over excited first grader on their first day of school.

"I have it 5th with my boyfriend, Carter Faye." I answered and Gretchen gawked at me.

"Nuh-uh!" She said with an open mouth and wide eyes.

"What?"

"You're going out with CARTER FAYE, the ripped bad boy from La Push!? Man, this is his first day here and he is already the hottest guy in school! No fair!" Gretchen exclaimed.

I had to laugh.

I mean, the Carter I know is the adorable stuttering boy who pissed me off by trying to impress me. DEFINITELY not a... Bad boy?

I could see how the hottest guy in school would fit though... He had abs sculpted from the gods.

"Haha, um, I guess?" I chuckled to Gretchen who shook her head, smiling.

"I guess it makes sense." She sighed, closing her eyes.

"You're gonna have some gorgeous babies...." Gretchen said and I burst out laughing.

"Woah there! Haha let's stick to a lunch buddy huh?" I asked, my mood suddenly getting brighter.

"Definitely. You can come join my best friend and I in the back area, that's where we usually sit. We have a couple other friends I'll have to introduce as well." Gretchen told me. I nodded, smiling.
