Chapter 13:
Throughout the day, I found that I had many classes with the boys, and even some with Mina, Mason, and Corey. That made my day a bit better.
At the end of the day, I was the first one out the door, waiting in my car for Jackie. When I saw her walk out of the building I met her at the steps, before going to collect Carter.
"Ready to go?" I asked, holding my breath. She nodded and got in my car, no questions asked.
It was a fun car ride home, surprisingly. The three of us told each other about our day, teachers we like, teachers we hated, people that bugged us...
"So how long have you and Gretchen been friends?" I asked Jackie, who moved to the passenger seat after we dropped off Carter. She shrugged.
"I've known her since Preschool. We've always been friends, but she can get on my nerves pretty easily." Jackie explained and I laughed.
"She really annoyed me when I first met her. Then she started sucking up to me, but was pretty easy to get along with. I figure she one of those girls who never shuts up?" I asked and Jackie laughed, nodding.
"Bingo."
We talked for the rest of the car ride until we got to my house and her jaw dropped.
"I knew you had an amazing car, but your house is beautiful!" Jackie exclaimed. I nodded, unbuckling.
"It's very... Timeless." I said, quietly laughing to myself.
Oh Jackie, you have no idea.
"Stay here, I have to go check something." I said and she nodded, confused.
I walked inside looking for my parents.
"Carlisle, Esme!" I called and soon enough they were standing in front of me, concerned.
"What's happened?" Esme asked and I laughed humorlessly.
"A lot, believe me, but I need to tell you that there's a human in my car." I rushed out and they looked surprised.
"You brought a friend home?" Carlisle asked and I nodded.
"Something like that, is that okay?" I asked worriedly and they both nodded.
"Of course it is!" Esme assured me.
"Bring her in." Carlisle said with a smile. I ran out to my car and Jackie got out.
"Are you sure it's okay for me to be here?" She asked nervously and I laughed, grabbing her hand.
"Of course it is, come meet my family." I encouraged and brought her inside.
It was so weird, I just met this girl when I was trying to kill her and now I'm introducing her to the family. I felt like she was going to be my best friend.
Right then I felt a pang of guilt wash over me.
Zoe.
I called her once! ONCE! How could i forget about her? She would be so worried...
"Hello dear, my name is Esme." Esme introduced herself.
"And I am Carlisle, welcome to our home." Carlisle greeted warmly, Jackie smiled bashfully.
"It's nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Cullen." She said and I cleared my throat.
"Mom, dad, this is Jackie, a friend I made at school today." I said, laughing quietly at calling them mom and dad.
It was strange, but for obvious reasons, it was necessary.
"Nice to meet you Jackie, make yourself at home." Carlisle said and she nodded, before following me upstairs to my room. I opened the doors and once again her jaw dropped.
