Chapter 17:
Lux POV:
Carter and I ran to Jackie's as fast as we could, and Carter shifted back to human form before she could see him. I instantly worried as I saw a Forks police car in her driveway, running up to the front door and almost crushing the door bell.
Soon enough a teary eyed Jackie opened the door up, and gave me a big hug.
"Oh Lux, I'm so glad you're here, and you too Carter." She said and invited us in.
I saw Gretchen crying into Corey's chest in the living room, who looked as if he would faint at any moment. Then I saw Jackie's boyfriend talking to the police worriedly as the cop scribbled down notes.
"What happened to her?" I whispered and Carter took my hand, giving it a squeeze.
Just what I needed, a missing friend. Surely an immortal murderer coming after me and everyone I know wasn't enough right now. (Note the sarcasm)
"I have no idea. Gretchen and I were going to pick Mina up from her soccer practice tonight at 6, but when we got there she never showed. We asked some of her teammates of they'd seen her, but they said she had already left with someone in a cherry red Ferrari." Jackie said, and slowly turned to me.
"I've been trying to ignore the irony of her kidnapper having the same car as you, but honestly, who else has a Ferrari in Forks? Do you think someone pretended to be you, so Mina would willingly go with her kidnapper?" Jackie asked and I had to give her credit. She's smart.
"It certainly looks that way." I said, growling.
I mean what else is this person going to do? Kidnap someone else? Who's next?
I was drawn out of my thoughts when a warm hand clasped my shoulder.
"Hey I'm free, but the cops say its your turn now." Mason said to me, and I nodded, sighing.
"Of course it is."
I walked over to the living room couch and sat next to the cop, who uncapped a pen, and cleared his throat. His name tag read CHIEF SWAN.
Wait a minute...
"Hey are you Bella Swan's dad?" I asked suddenly, catching the man off guard.
"Uh yes I am, how do you know her? We're you a friend of hers I didn't know about or..." Chief Swan asked and I shook my head.
"No, actually I live with your daughter, Renesmee, and the rest of the Cullen's. They were really good friends of mine awhile back, we went our seperate ways, and I just ran into them around a week ago. Now I'm staying with them, for probably a long time." I explained and Chief Swan nodded.
"Cullen's... Nice kids." Chief Swan agreed before clearing his throat.
"So, where did you last see Mina?" He asked, clicking his pen.
"At school this morning in Trig." I answered and he quickly scrawled my answer down.
"Okay and did she tell you of any plans that she had after school, or anything of the sort?" Chief Swan asked and I shook my head.
"She didn't mention any plans or trips for today, or anything like that. She seemed very normal to me." I concluded and Bella's dad wrote my response down quickly.
"We'll I guess that's all I've got for you..." Chief Swan trailed off.
"Lux." I filled in.
"Lux. You're free to go." He dismissed and I stood up, heading back to Carter and Jackie, when he called to me again.
