Chapter 8:

Carter POV:

As Lux and I sat on the shore of the beach, we shared random facts about ourselves. Lux seemed to fascinate me even with dumb questions like 'what's your favorite color?'.

"Aqua. What about you?" She asked, kicking the clear La Push water with her feet.

"I like red." I answered, laying on my back, and staring up at the sky. It was around four and we had talked for HOURS. It was almost supper.

"Animal?" Lux asked, leaning back by me. Our bodies were lying only centimeter away from each other, as we looked at each other, resting our heads on the sand.

My breath drew quicker at the closeness of our bodies, I could tell she could feel it too. My pulse raced and my head fogged up, making me stammer.

"U-um, a wolf?" I laughed, trying to brush off my weakness that hardly ever showed.

This girl has me whipped.

As she laughed, the fading sun glowed on her pale skin, outlining her features in gold. I could see her brilliant white fangs peeking out of her mouth, making me shiver a little. Her purple eyes were sparkling and looked relaxed as Lux rest her head in the sand.

"How original!" Lux said teasingly. I scoffed and threw a fist of sand at her face.

She gasped and coughed, before glaring at me, and I realized what I had done.

"After all that!?" Lux cried teasingly and sprang on me, straddling my sides and grabbing my wrists.

I growled and flipped the two of us over so that I was on top. Lux hissed with a smirk and rolled us over again, coating us in La Push sand.

Finally I gave up, releasing all the tension in my muscles. Sadly, she was too strong.

But come on she's a newborn that's not even a fair fight!

Lux giggled and continued to pin my arms down to sand by my head, while keeping her legs on each side of my torso. Just how we started.

My heart pounded like a sledgehammer as she smiled at me.

She was so beautiful...

My breath quickened as I saw the smile fade from her cheeks, and she leaned closer towards me. The beautiful sunset was nothing compared to Lux, merely a background to the masterpiece in front of me.

I held my breath and prayed to god that I had okay breath.

Finally our lips crashed together, molding perfectly in synch. Lux's hands moved from my arms to my chest, her cold hands against my warm chest driving me crazy.

I deepened the kiss and caressed her gorgeous face in my hands, drawing her closer.

Soon, and FAR too soon, I was running out of air. I pulled back and gasped, panting.

Lux smiled, still on top of me.

"Sorry I forgot about the whole breathing thing." She whispered, making me shiver.

Okay that's it, I have officially lost my manliness.

I'm done for in the pack.

Lux was too damn beautiful to be cool around. She made me weak at the knees, the only girl that has ever made me feel powerless.
