Chapter 6:

Carter POV:

The pack and I were having a campfire tonight. I grabbed a huge log from the forest, and carried it back to the pit over my shoulder.

"Hey look, Carter's useful for something..." Jared mocked and I growled at him.

"Still crying about a girl beating you up Jare-Bear?" I taunted back and Sam rushed over to us. Jared growled and lurched forward at me, but Sam held him back.

"Jared, knock it off." The alpha said with authority, and Jared looked away upset. I smirked and Sam gave me a stern look.

"You too lover boy." He added, before walking over to the campfire. Everyone was seated on the big logs and had thoughtful expressions.

I knew why.

They're all mad at me, everyone but Sam and Leah, for imprinting on a vampire. I know it's never happened before, at least not on a full immortal, but I love her.

Yes, the cocky player, is in love.

"Come sit Cart, we gotta talk." Billy, Jacob's dad and the head of the tribe, motioned to me. I nodded curtly and sat next to him. All eyes were glued to me.

The whole pack sat in silence as they waited for Billy or I to talk. Not even Jacob or Seth dared take a bite of their hotdog, as they watched Billy stare me down. I kept my mouth shut, watching the orange ashes shoot up out of the fire.

Everyone continued to stare, and I slowly got annoyed. 5 minutes now, are you kidding me!? Say something Billy! I CAN'T TAKE IT!

I crinkled my pop can in one hand and frustratedly threw it into the pit of fire.

"WHAT!? YOU WANTED TO TALK TO ME SO DAMN BAD, SO WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I shouted and Sam scolded me. Billy seemed unphased as he swallowed a gulp of beer.

"I don't like it." Billy said stubbornly and I clawed the log beneath me, chips of bark falling to the forest ground.

"Like. What?" I barked out, trying not to shred this man to pieces for aggravating me.

"You and Lucy, I don't like it." Billy said and the pack nodded. Sam and Leah scoffed, looking away.

Thank god they were on my side...

"Lux, her name is Lux, and I really don't see how that's any of your business." I snapped and he held his hands up tiredly.

"You're right, it's not. But it might be, when we have baby vampire-werewolves running around Forks!" Billy exclaimed and I gave him a disgusted look.

"Billy! You of all people should understand the ways of a wolf. We shape shift, we growl, we imprint. On people that we can't control!" I exclaimed standing up.

"But you imprinted on the enemy!" Billy barked back, his eyes flashing with fire.

I growled threateningly.

"You know NOTHING about her!" I yelled and Billy laughed darkly.

"And you do? You're just a boy, Carter. I'm a bit older and wiser than you'd expect." Billy challenged and I snorted.

"Don't worry, the old part I expected." I snarled and Jacob growled in defense for his dad. I formed into a wolf and shot the pack one last angry look.
