The Difference Between Sides

(Hey guys, sorry it took so long to get this chapter to come out, a lot of things have been happening lately)

(Ren POV)

The Nomu roared as it fought the heroes, no one standing a chance. I quickly move in. Attacking its leg with lightning concentrated into my palm (his thunder palm move) the Nomu doesn't even seem to feel as it kicks and swats us away. I get back up to attack again but this time my attack is stopped by the new All for One, who has joined the fight. "Leave and I'll let you live," He whispers, "I like you Ren Kaminari, so I'll give you a chance to flee." He snickers.

"Shut up!" I yell charging a thunder palm in my other hand I swing it at him, forcing him to jump back. "I'm gonna kill you!" I yell at him. He laughs at that.

"You don't sound very heroic at all," He snickers, "You remind of Kaminari, you really are his bastard."

I clench my hands into fists, "I'll kill you!" I yell again. I charge at him again. Suddenly, red tentacles shoot towards me. 

No, I can't dodge or block that! I realize. The red tentacles wrap around me. Pain shoots through my body.

"You fool," Shigaraki laughs. "You absolute idiot, I'm gonna take your quirk, and take tear you to shreds, I'll shine despair on your family, and tear them apart too! You're no hero at all!" He laughs. "Not at all."

I scream in pain. Am I really gonna lose my quirk like this? I wonder.

"You're no hero..." Shigaraki continues.

"I told you to SHUT UP!" I yell, electricity flies everywhere, suddenly, he lets go of me, allowing me to back off and get in a fighting stance.

The pro heroes at the scene are busy fighting the Nomu while my class is evacuating people.

"Do you really think you can kill me Ren Kaminari?" Shigaraki asks. "I would like to see you try!" He yells. He leaps away from the fight. "Come! Let's see you try and kill me!" He yells.

I leap at him without a second thought. He leads me away from the battle and to an empty street not far away. He laughs as he taunts me. I swear I'm gonna kill him, I'm gonna kill him. He is the one causing all these problems and if he dies then the community will be much better. I can solve the league of villains problem, right here, right now.

Without thinking, I charge at him, I'm gonna fight and win!

I strike him with a thunder palm. I hit him right in the stomach, he doesn't even blink. "What was that? A love touch?" He taunts. He grabs my arm and throws me against the ground. I gasp in pain as he kicks me away like a pebble. "You don't stand a chance," He says, walking up to me. "Listen, Ren Kaminari, I've got a question for you." He says as he walks up to me. "What's the difference between a hero and a villain?"

"Villains are evil-"

"Wrong" Shigaraki says, an evil grin plastered on his face. "There is no difference, both sides are just trying to make a better world, we villains just have the better way of doing it, call us murderers if you want but we're just taking out the problems in society, fake heroes, rebellious citizens, we have convictions just as strong as yours." He explains, standing over me. "There's no difference Ren," He whispers in my ear. "Us villains are just doing it the faster way, we make more of a difference we cleanse society much more effectively then any hero would."

"There's no difference," I whisper under my breath. "Killing is more effective."

"Correct" Shigaraki whispers back, "And I can help you create the society you want." For a moment, I zone out, I'm just listening to his whispers. "Cleanse society with me, Ren. Let's make a better world together, and wipe out all evil in the world."

"Right..." I reply softly.

"Join me," He smiles, he reaches out a hand. Conflicted, I want to reach out, I want to create a society where people can live without evil. He can help me.

I reach out.

"REN!" A hand grabs me and throws me back. Shigaraki growls.

"It's you!" He yells

I look up to see my parents standing between me and Shigaraki. "Ren, there is a difference between and hero and a villain." My dad says.

"No there isn't." Shigaraki argues, "You should know that better than anyone Kaminari."

"No." My mom says, backing my dad up, "A villain destroys so called 'evil' to make a 'better' society, pushing down the ones that get in there way." She glares at him. "But a hero creates a better society..." She clenches her fist. "By inspiring and protecting others to rise with them!"

(Flashback time)

(Third person POV, 7 years ago)

"Mommy! Mommy!" Little Ren cheered as his mom came home from work. "I saw you on the TV today!"

"Oh really?" Jirou smiled as she hugged her son.

"Yeah! I saw it with Nagisa!" Ren claimed. "I saw you fight the villains! Like BOOM and then POW and BAM!!!" He cheered. 

"When I grow up! I'm gonna fight villains too! They'll be so afraid of me that they won't ever come out again! Bye-bye villains!!" He yelled.

A frown came across Jirou's face, "Ren... Do you know why we fight villains?" She asked.

"Because they're the bad guys! And they need to be beaten!" Ren yelled.

"No Ren." Jirou looked him in the eye, "We fight villains to protect what they're trying to harm. We don't fight to hurt people, we fight to protect people."

"I don't get it..." Ren scratched his head.

"Just remember this," She smiled, "A villain will try to make a better society be pushing people down and destroying everything they hate or they think is bad. A hero creates a better society by inspiring and protecting others to rise with them."

"Protecting and inspiring even the villains?" Ren asked curiously.

"Even the villains," Jirou answered. "No matter how evil or bad a person may be, they're still human, and a hero's job is to protect and inspire them. No matter how bad they may be." She smiled, "Even if they hurt you before, you have to remember that you're job is to protect, not destroy." She patted Ren on the head. 

Even if it's your father, who's protecting you with everything he's got.

"Mommy," Ren said, "I have one more question," He said.

"What is it?"

"I didn't listen at all, could you repeat that whole thing all over again?"
