Deep in a Coma

Ready to start season two?

(Zero POV)

As the train stopped, I heard the chattering of people quiet down as they exited the train. Fumbling through the crowd, I made my way to my destination.

"Did you hear about that fight last week! It caused a blackout in my apartment!" Someone said,

"Yeah, police and officials don't wanna tell us what happened for some reason... maybe it was that hero... I think his name was Chargebolt... He's got an electric quirk right?" Someone else replied.

I ignored them and kept going. It wasn't long until I made it to a hospital.

"You know where to go," The nurse said after I check in with them. I nod and head to a patient room on the second floor.

A heart monitor beeps steadily behind the curtain. I carefully slide the curtain aside to reveal a sleeping Ren.

He's been asleep for a week now, I think, as I pull up a chair next to him. I've been told that his condition is stable for now but they have no idea when he might wake up. So I've been visiting him every day.

"Hey Ren," I whisper, "It's Zero, I'm back," I greet,

"I trained with Class 1A today, they're strong, I've learned a lot about you from them," I fiddle my thumbs quietly, waiting for a response that won't come.

"When you wake up... The first thing I want to ask is..." I hesitated, "Were you... actually, being you with us...with me, Tobi, Saki, and Ichika? Did we... did you..." I trailed off a little before taking a deep breath, "Did we mean anything to you?" I asked. I knew I wouldn't get an answer, but Ren when woke up, I wanted to know.

Did he hate us? I wondered. He probably did, We're villains after all. I thought sadly. It was strange, having emotions, sometimes I felt stings in my chest even though I was never wounded, sometimes I felt this twisting, tight feeling in my stomach when I haven't eaten anything wrong.

But even though they can be painful, for some reason, I want to learn about them.

"I... Think I'm gonna go now," I whispered, I reached out to hold Ren's hand. Half-hoping to feel his warmth I felt when we saw the fireworks.

Suddenly, the door opened and I pulled back in surprise.

"Oh, aren't you the new class 1A student?" I turned to see a woman and a man at the door. The woman had ear jacks just like Ren's attached to her ears, and the man had yellow hair. 

"You are..." I've studied all of the top twenty heroes when I was with Takamatsu, I learned about their powers and weaknesses so if they came for me I could fight them off. "Chargebolt and Earphone jack," I said.

"Wow, someone actually recognizes you," Earphone Jack mocked Chargebolt,

"Hey!" Chargebolt retaliated, "I think it's impressive enough that I made it to the top twenty so quickly!" he boasted

Earphone Jack just smiled before turning to me, "We're Ren's parents," She explained, "I'm glad Ren has people visiting him on their own accord,"

I just nodded before making my way out of the room.

Do they know about me and Ren? That I'm a former villain?

(Jiro POV)

I wait till Zero closes the door before turning to speak with Denki.

"You know who that was right?" I ask. Denki nods in reply. I look towards Ren before looking at his vitals, checking to make sure he's still ok.

"Wait you actually think that new girl tried to harm him?" Denki asks.

"Of course I'm suspicious! She's a former villain!" I reply, still checking to see if Ren's safe.

"I'm a former villain! You're being paranoid!"

"Of course I'm paranoid, this is my son!" I argue. I finally finish making sure Ren's ok before sitting back down. "Sorry..." I apologize to Denki once I calm down, "I'm just scared, Ren means everything to me," I take Ren's hand.

"He means a lot to me too y'know," Denki replies, taking a seat next to me, I lean my head on his shoulder.

"This is kinda nostalgic," I whisper, "Ren used to be terrified of lightning, so when there was a storm he would be too scared to sleep, so I would sit by his bedside all night and hold his hand until he fell asleep," I tell Denki.

"I should've been there with you," Denki sighed. I don't reply because even though I want to comfort him, he really should've been there, so I say nothing.

Suddenly, I feel a jolt shoot through me. I quickly pull my hand away to see electricity sparking wildly off of Ren's hand. Just as suddenly, nurses and doctors rush into the room.

"Hey! What's going on?" I ask.

"So sorry Mrs. Jirou, Ren's having another energy overload, we need you to step outside for a bit," One of the nurses requested, they nudged us out of the room and closed the door behind them.

"What?" I asked bewildered. It wasn't long before the nurses and doctors came back out. "Hey what's going on?" I ask one of them.

"Sorry, we never informed you before," The nurse apologized, "Recently, Ren's been activating his quirk randomly, it doesn't put Ren himself in much danger because his body would stop the electricity itself if needed but if kept unchecked, he could overload the entire hospital and cause a blackout," The nurse explained, "We don't know why this happens but we know he's ok," She suddenly hesitated, "Actually... Some of the doctors believe Ren might actually be doing this on purpose, that his consciousness is activating his quirk while his body sleeps,"

"Is that possible?" I ask,

"We live in a world where almost everyone has superpowers, this isn't the craziest thing this hospital has experienced," The nurse replied.

I look into the room where Ren is still asleep. Ren... what are you doing?

And so begins season 2! I'm excited about this next arc and I hope u r too!

Also, I wanted to ask you guys this: Who do YOU think is stronger? 8% OFA full cowling Deku or current Ren Kaminari?

I personally think it's a pretty close battle but maybe Deku would come out on top... Ren's got a good chance though...
