-Harry-
I followed the woman back into a room, I told Liam that he didn't have to stay and that I would call him with any new news.
The woman hasn't spoken a word to me. I was starting to get more nervous. My breath began to get caught in my throat. Why isn't she talking?
She opened the door and ushered me in and she followed. Louis was laying in the bed, his breath slight and he was still asleep. I rushed over to him and took his hands in mine. "Baby." I whispered and kissed his dainty hands. I felt a tear run down my check, but it didn't matter, I'm with him.
The woman, who I'm assuming was his surgeon took a seat in the chair, I turned around so that I was facing her.
"We did all we could."
"What do you mean? He's right here, he's okay. Right?"
"Yes, for now, but, Harry," she paused and shook her head, "he doesn't have as long as we were hoping."
I nodded, holding back my tears, because now I felt like I couldn't cry. My chest grew tighter than usual.
"He has, a mass, very, very close to his heart, he had a heart attack earlier, which is why he lost consciousness. We tried to remove some of the tumor, but we couldn't. We knew we couldn't risk it. With his, new masses forming and the cancer emerging into more cells, there's not much else we can do, I'm so sorry."
Now I was crying. I held my hand up to my mouth and sobbed into it. "Thank you for trying."I mumbled.
"Harry I'm so sorry and I know it probably seems like there couldn't be anymore bad news, but I don't think chemo is an option at this point."
"O-okay. What should I do?"
"For the next period of time just be with him and hold his hand and tell him you love him."
I nodded and squeezed his hand.
She walked over to me and rubbed my back. "Louis should wake soon. Press this button when he does, alright?"
I shook my head and looked back to Louis. I crawled up close to him and cradled his head. I listened to his heart, his beating heart. Then, I placed my head on his and thought about his life. How, and why, does this man had to leave. Why does he have to go now? Can he stay a little longer?
I'm not sure how I'm going to be okay, but I think I'll get through it. Though, I need to stop thinking like this. He's still here, and maybe a miracle will happen. That happens right?
"Harry?" Louis groggily mumbled.
"Louis?! You're awake?"
"Mhm."
"Okay."
"I hurt." He said.
"I know." I stroked his hair.
"I just wish I felt fine, I want to be okay."
"I know." I whispered into his ear and kissed his forehead. "I have to call the doctor, Okay?"
He nodded his head slightly. I pressed the button. Wishing that doctors didn't have to swarm us.
Louis pressed his body into mine a little more.
"I'm cold." He said.
"Here, I'll pull the blankets up a little."
"You don't have to do that, just, hold me."
"Okay." I wrapped my arms around his torso.
"That's better." He laughed.
A knock sounded from the door, a few nurses and doctors came in. "How are you feeling Louis?"
