"He's a catastrophe! We should kill him now!" Was that Slade's voice? Of course it was his. He was the only one who would scream early in the morning. He was really showing his mbolo pride.

"His kind killed my whole pack...I know he is my mate but...he needs to die. I don't want to see him anymore. I don't love him at all." The one speaking now was Caleb. He sounded stern. Why can't I open my eyes and see them? It was total darkness. What were they talking about? Where was the catastrophe? They were mentioning  about killing someone. Did a catastrophe appear when I blacked out?

"Lucian is a catastrophe...I can't believe he manipulated us all. And Wye Fye died because of him. I won't forgive him...ever!" Sevor growled. Please, someone hand me Wye Fye's arm and I will smack him with it and shove it on his chest. And here I thought he moved on with that woman. Why were they accusing me of being a catastrophe? I was not a catastrophe. Unfortunately, I belonged to the ancient race and I was the son of my parents.

"If you'd like, I'll harvest his souls and bring his with me," Samael offered. He was the only one who was not growling. He was in his usual calm and blank self except when he wanted to sacrifice a soul to his Father. Very well said Peaches. Very well said.

I heard multiple footsteps walking towards me. It would seem that I was lying down.

"So what do you say bird man? Let's end this traitor," Slade stated with no melancholy at all. They really thought of me as  a catastrophe? Although their words suddenly had an impact in my chest that felt like my heart fell to my stomach, if this will make them happy, so be it. Let my life end with their hands.

"Do what you want. I never really saved him from anything anyway," Raphael replied in his usual cheery voice. Well, at least he admitted his mistakes. That was very honorable of you. But you did forget the time when you rescued me from scattering my limbs from falling off the cliff. You do not need to be humble.

Their warmth surrounded me as well as their detestation. Was saving the children the right thing to do? Would giving up my life for them worth it? Maybe my purpose was finally done. They no longer need me. But to lose my life like this and leave them all seemed unacceptable. I would like to do something more with them. I would like to explore the world more with them and see the children grow into hopeful creatures filled with life.

I do not want to die yet.

Please do not kill me...

"Arriverderci...Lucian..." Slade murmured. It was a farewell that I do not want to return. Why do farewells caused bitterness in once tongue and hesitance in once mind and heart? I do not want to say farewell to any of you but if this will cause you great delight then...do whatever means necessary to take it even if it saddened me.

The sound of metal passed by in the quickest and shortest manner and it was the very time when I was able to open my eyes to the cloudy skies which covered the lukewarm radiance of the sun. The grasses underneath me were crunchy and rough as I shifted my back. I could not move my limbs for my wrists and ankles were tied up to four short timbers. The stench of rot lingered in the air and soft murmurs came along with it.

"So you're awake?" I heard Slade say from just above my head. I looked up and saw him sitting with a half bitten apple in his hand.

I was only dreaming? "You don't  want to kill me?" I asked him.

"I would if you didn't save our asses but fortunately, you did," he stated in the same non-caring tone. "So, mind telling me what you are? From what I know, catastrophes are born when the soul of a dead ancient rots inside the dead body. But you're not dead aren't you?" He asked and took a bite of his apple.
