'Can I borrow your phone? I need to call God and tell him I've found his missing angel.'

The racing beat of Mike's heart pulsating under El's fingertips was the only sound that filled her ears, not the sound of the gentle breeze hitting the branches, not the sound of the birds' melodious chirping. All she could think of was his rapid, lovesick heartbeats.

"Feel that baby love? It beats for you and you only.", he said cheesily, continuing to scroll down the wood with his muffin on his back. El responded by kissing the top of his lustrous curls, grinning ear to ear, making her dimples reappear on her burning cheeks.
Exploring the forest as El called it was Mike and Eleanor's favourite hobby of all time. They both seemed to enjoy the peace they got away from all the madness that tainted them. Just for a few hours, they could forget about their father chasing them, their family drama, their friends judging them. And for Mike, it was disguising his deepest and darkest secret from the only person he felt like he could be himself with.
Here they are, wandering through the woods, wrapped around each other, talking and arguing about random stuff.
"Mike?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you remember what day today is?", she asked, her voice filled with hope.
"Tuesday?", Mike said, pretending to be confused, which he wasn't.
"Pfft. You know what I mean.", she exclaimed, growing impatient.
"Not really."
A lie. Of course he remembered their one month anniversary, not like he's been working on a surprise over the past few weeks.
El's pout turned into an amused smile as soon as she laid eyes on the pillow fort that came into view out of nowhere. The fort was held up by a bamboo stick with a picnic basket, a vase of pink roses and pillows rested on the layers of blanket.
"Mike, this is...", she gasped, trying to get words out but she just couldn't. She was way too overwhelmed that she didn't notice her feet touching the grassy land again.
"...Awesome? Beautiful? Spectacular?", he joked, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her exposed shoulder.
"It's marvellous.", she breathed, turning around in his embrace and snaking her tiny hands around his neck.
"Happy one month anniversary, angel.", he whispered, the most adorable smile plastered on his freckled-cheeks.
"Happy one month anniversary, Mike.", she returned the gesture, standing on her tip-toes and staring to lean in towards his lips. Mike did the same, his hands automatically moving to her hips, caressing it with tenderness. Their mouths met in the middle, tounges intertwining perfectly like they were meant to be together. They pulled away moments later, making their way to the tent hand in hand.
"Aw, I love pink roses. Oh-oh! You bought waffles! This is so perfect! I love you so much, Mike!", she squealed, jumping up and down in excitement like a baby.
