'Do you think we would look cute dancing together? I think we should out.'
El was honestly surprised by the number of people that had shown up to the reception. She would be lying if she said she was having a great time, as much as the guests were well dressed and well mannered from the outside, they were quite the opposite on the inside. They were so judgemental that it radiated off them as they passed by. Fortunately for El, not many people seemed to interact with Mike claiming he was a bad influence for their beloved children, but he didn't seem to care, all he cared about was his tiny girlfriend and his sister, and dwelling away from his parent's sight which El would say he has been doing a good job at.
"You want something to eat?" Mike's voice snapped El out of her thoughts.
"They have waffles," he added, looking down at this girlfriend with that dirty smirk of his pulled up on his freckled cheeks.
El eyes lit up as she rolled them playfully before starting to untangle herself from his hold until a voice made her stop her tracks in shock. Uh oh, this isn't going to end well, she thought.
"Hey, Mike,"
Mike slammed his eyes shut, sighing heavily. El, taking notice of his discomfort, grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers, giving it a gentle squeeze afterwards.
"Hey, mom," he opened his eyes, locking his chocolate orbs with her ocean ones.
"How have you been, Michael?", Karen asked, smiling politely at her son, completely ignoring the girl squished next to him.
"Never been better," he pulled up a fake grin, but not fake enough for Karen to not buy it.
"I didn't know you knew how to tie a tie," she chuckled, grabbing the knot of the silver material and pushing it further up. Mike took a step back, breaking the contract absurdly.
"I don't, El tied it for me," he said proudly, pulling his hand away from hers to wrap it around her shoulders, pecking the top of her head. A shy smile found it's way to her lips as her olive cheeks turned into a shade of red. Mike thought it made her look cuter if that was even possible. The tender moment was interrupted by Karen clearing her throat, simply disgusted by the young couple in front of her.
"Anyway," her frown turned into a smile as she started talking. "Can I talk to you for a sec, Michael?"
"Yeah, I'm listening," he nodded, pulling the brunette further into his chest.
"Alone," Karen said firmly, grinning after. Mike sighed, rolling his eyes before letting them fall on El. "I'll be right back, okay? Stay here." he whispered, making her nod. She let her gaze linger on Mike as he walked away with his mom to the other side of the hall until it landed on a certain redhead, Max. She waved at her awkwardly, looking at her in what looked like sympathy. What the hell? El thought as she continued to stare at her friend in disbelief across the hall. If anything she should be jealous of me, I'm living every teenage girl's dream! she scoffed, turning her back towards her.

"What did you want to talk about?" Mike asked impatiently, he hated leaving his baby muffin alone and he hated starting a conversation with his mom more, he just wanted to get this over with already.
