'I'm always not sunshine & butterflies, sometimes I'm blisters and bruises'

"Welcome to Saturday Detention." The principal's voice rang, inviting a brutal silence into the room.

"I will not be asking you to write essays which would not be done either way, but I am going to be asking you to do whatever you're doing in silence for the next 5 hours, understood?"

A few students nodded, the rest not bothered to lift their heads as they were so taken away by themselves. With that, the principal silently exited to room, the low sound of whispers taking over again along with the loud scraping of a maths compass against the wood.

"Hey, do you mind?" Eleanor spoke up, turning around in her chair to face the boy behind her, Taylor. The captain of the football team and the hottest boy in their grade. The boy who liked to pretend that every girl he walked past wasn't drooling over him. Taylor was always in detention every Saturday. So, he continued the target he set to himself, ruin this desk but scrapping stuff all over it.

He smirked, pausing to glance at the brunette in front of him before continuing.

"I'm sorry, am I annoying you, muffin?" he said sarcastically.

Eleanor couldn't help the smile growing on her lips on the mention of that word, muffin . It has wasn't because of Taylor, it was because it reminded her of someone, all the memories they made together flashing in her eyes.

She looked in his direction, her smile dropping at the sight of his scoffing and rolled his eyes at her. She could tell he was hurt, inside and out. His face was still covered with cuts and bruises, his black eye somehow making him hotter in Eleanor's eyes.

That's when it hit her, the reason she was here. She thought back to how Mike accused her of faking her feelings in front of the whole class. She knew she had to follow her plan but she couldn't help but hurt seeing him in pain. He looked up from his doodling, catching her eyes. She smiled momentarily at his clueless expression as Mike couldn't help but smile back a little.

"Um, Eleanor?" Taylor waved his hand in front of her face, making her break her eye contact with Mike and look his way rather annoyed.

"What?" Eleanor asked, clearly zoned out still.

"I said do you wanna maybe grab something to eat tomorrow?" he repeated himself, his words filled with confidence.

She looked back at Mike who was already starring back, pleading her with his eyes to say no. She wanted to say yes but something was stopping her. Besides, it would ruin her plan if she did so she declined it politely.

"I'm sorry I can't." she failed a pout. "I have to get on my PJ to meet up with Kylie Jenner tomorrow, but we will do this later, yeah?"

She looked towards Mike again to see him matching a proud smile as hers.

"I know your lying, muffin," Taylor said as she stood up from her desk, pulling down a skirt a bit.

"Of course I am! And don't call me that again, please."

After shooting Taylor one last sassy look, she made her way to Mike, taking a seat at the desk beside him as Taylor tutted.
