'It's hard to pretend to love someone when you don't, but it's harder to pretend that you don't love someone when you do.'

*4 months later*

Detention. Something that sucks your soul out of your body slowly till you die of boredom. Mike has been in detention enough times to know that bringing a piece of paper to doodle on was the best way to go. El on the other hand though had no idea about detention whatsoever. The last time she was here was for making out in the closet with her boyfriend. Well, ex-boyfriend. She'd rather say it was fun with Mike by her side then but now, it was different. It was the complete opposite. Sitting there, staring at the curly-haired boy's bruised face, all she could think of was revenge.

*Three days ago*

"How is the theme of love portrayed in Macbeth?" Miss Adams questioned as she flipped through her script.

The usual set of hands went up in the air with an unexpected one, Mike's.

Miss Adams bought her glasses to the tip of her nose to peek at the reality "Mike? Do you want a hall pass or something?"

"No, Miss Adams. I want to answer your question," he preached, stealing a quick gaze from his love.

"Oh umm..." she trailed off, confused as the students gasped in shock. Mike Wheeler, known for his darkness and lowest grades are paying attention in class?! Wow, people change so often lately.

"Go ahead then, Mike,"

"It's used to show that you do anything no matter what for your loved ones, at the end of the day they are the only one that matters."

Eleanor knew straight away this was aimed at her, hell the whole class knew. Their relationship wasn't a secret after the recording was released.

"Every well said Michael, I'm impressed." Miss Adams grinned proudly. "There's something we all can agree on-"

"Actually, " a voice interrupted. "I'd like to contradict Michael's proclamation,"

"Ah! There's always room for contrast in literature," Miss Adams gestured Eleanor to continue.

"I think love was rather used as a weapon of bribery," she argued, sending Mike a sharp glare.

"There's another way to look at it, would you like to expand on that for us?"

"Lady Macbeth used love to manipulate Macbeth to get what she wanted: power."

"But she did all of that to make Macbeth the king, not her," Mike interrupted.

"To use him as a puppet and take control," El spat, this time directly at Mike.

"Yet, he's going to get all the credit!"

"And the consequences! If she does anything wrong, it's going to affect him more than her!"

"It's more painful to see your lover go through pain than go through it!"

"Oh! Cut the bullshit, she was using him the whole time, she's didn't love him, she never did!" she raised her voice.
