Well there it was, the moment I had been dreading since we landed in this upside-down world, the moment I'd succeeded in putting off for the last few days with a strategic family crisis lie. Well it wasn't completely a lie, my family was in crisis, just not in the way I'd led Kon to believe with the brief phone call and subsequent text updates I'd been sending him from Jason's safehouse between Lex Op planning sessions with my brothers. However I could only utilize the excuse for so long, otherwise he'd think it was a big enough deal to actually contact my family, or god forbid, come to Gotham himself. So there I was walking back into that strange shared apartment, to the sympathetic open arms of my comically unaware best friend who thinks we've been in a serious romantic relationship for the past two years, as opposed to a decidedly platonic friendship for the past eight.
Only moments after walking through the door and setting down my stuff, I found myself engulfed in a familiar embrace, the searing kiss that followed though, was anything but.
My heart stalled for a few moments, shock temporarily paralyzing me until my brain slowly started to reboot itself from it's Kon induced shutdown. By that time, my arms had wound around his neck almost of their own accord, pulling me in closer, while my lips automatically began moving against his, and a series of what I'd later deem mortifying sounds had escaped my throat.

He released me with a soft chuckle,

"Missed you too baby, glad you're home."

My cheeks flushed scarlet and I pulled away under the guise of transporting my things to their rightful places.

"Y-yeah, me too."

"How's your aunt? Did you get her all set up with the home health aid?" He questioned following me to the bedroom, concern clear in his tone.

I thanked god and Bruce (mainly Bruce) once again for my honed ability to control my heartbeat as I responded,

"She's better, my cousin is with her now and the aid is all taken care of."

He nodded, "She's lucky to have family like you Tim, not everyone would drop everything and rush back home when their great aunt has a heart attack, but you didn't even think twice, I really love that about you."

I gave him a small smile, as I tried not to let the guilt gnaw too hard at my insides, "Well she's always been good to me, and I know you would so the same if it was your aunt."

He came over and pecked me on the cheek at that comment,

"I suppose you're right."

I hummed in response as I made my way towards the bathroom,

"I'm gonna hop in the shower real quick, I feel gross from travel."

He laughed, "I figured, takeout for dinner? I'm thinking Chinese?"

"Yeah, sounds good to me." I replied as I closed the bathroom door behind me and headed for the shower and the tiniest bit of relief it offered me.

"Calling now, the usual?" He called through the door.

"Yep." I called back, having to remember to raise my voice as I did so because this Kon didn't know I was aware of his super hearing.

This was going to be a whole new kind of interesting.
