The reasoning behind the Batsuit became clear as we planned our op, as a member of the Titans not to mention as part of the arrow family, just about every hero in the world had seen me in and out of a domino, so if we we're going to break the law, the extra protection of the lead lined cowl was a necessity. Jason and Damien we're already known criminals here but Tim and I had pretenses to keep up, as two well known public figures, not to mention my hero career, we couldn't afford to risk it. We had no idea how long our would take, and accomplishing it would be a lot easier if we could maintain a low profile, something that would go up in smoke the moment any member of the Titans or the JLA recognized me or Tim, especially me. Not to mention that neither of us wanted our closest friends and family to think we were criminals. Wally would be devastated, I thought to myself as I perched on the roof of the building next to LutherCorp, I felt for my ring under my left gauntlet, reassured by its presence. I'd left that apartment in Star City pretty quickly, not wanting to look around and confirm the sad empty feeling in my chest, because I was pretty sure if I explored the small space I wouldn't find any trace of my dorky speedster husband. I'd been getting more memory fragments of the false reality we're stuck in, and while Wally was in a handful of them it was clear that our relationship was vastly different here, most likely because I was different here. I shook my head, I needed to focus on the mission at hand, things would go back to normal and I would have my speedster back, we just needed to find the cause of the reality shift, then we could fix this messed up world. With that thought I rolled my shoulders, took a deep breath and put my game face on, we had a job to do and like it or not the cowl was resting on my shoulders.
The plan was simple, Jay and Dami would break into the east wing and cause maximum chaos, which Jay was naturally thrilled about, meanwhile Tim and I would covertly infiltrate the west wing, also known as the science division, and gather as much intel as possible. Tim would hack the mainframe while I provided backup and looked out for anything we may have missed, I didn't trust Luther's security measures not to maim us if they somehow turned back on. A few minutes after Jason and Damien left to enact their part of the plan, a loud boom sounded from the east, quickly followed by alarms blaring. Tim and I took that as our cue and swung onto LutherCorp's roof, he'd already disabled the alarms and motion sensors in the area and ran the cameras on a loop so we were good to go. After landing on the roof we broke open a maintenance shaft and quickly made our way through the building, one step ahead of the guards, thanks to Tim's recon, until we eventually made it to the main lab. Tim immediately got to work while I scanned our surroundings, hyper aware of every noise in the room, so I was tensed and ready for battle even before I heard the footsteps coming in our direction.
'Company Red' I signaled Tim, not wanting to give away our exact location, he nodded and held up four fingers. Okay, he needed four minutes, I could do that, I moved out of the lab, quietly closing the door behind me, and made my way towards our unwanted visitors. Beastboy arrived first in the form of a cheetah, really that's about our luck in this backwards reality, so Titans in Metropolis, not awesome, but not something I couldn't handle.
I didn't give Gar a chance to pounce, with a flick of my wrist I had him down with a high strength tranq, he was out before he even hit the floor. Behind him Wondergirl and Bumblebee let out surprised exclamations at how fast their teammate went down, Karen fluttered down to check his pulse while Cassie rushed me. I easily dodged her blows and countered her attacks, I did after all play a pretty big role in her training, so I knew how she fought and was able to anticipate her moves before she made them. Even so I knew I couldn't beat an Amazon in direct hand to hand combat, so I activated the gas mask built into my cowl, then after making sure Karen and Gar were out of range, hit her with Amazonian strength knock out gas. After Cassie went down Karen moved from her protective stance in front of Gar and shrunk down, before she engaged me though I heard her call for backup, smart, I'd trained her well, not well enough to beat me though. Before she even finished calling for help I'd plucked her from the air and disengaged the power core in her suit, rendering her tiny and useless until someone could fix it for her. I gently placed her on the ground behind Gar's unconscious form, so as to shield her from further conflict, it wasn't her fault after all. Quickly I retracted the gas mask and activated my voice modulator then told her to stay put. I was about to go check on Tim's progress when I was knocked off my feet by the absolute last person I'd wanted to see in this scenario.. ..Wally, I had to mentally shake myself so I didn't do something stupid like try to kiss him, he always looked so handsome in his Flash uniform though, all I wanted to do was pull him into my arms and pretend this stupid world had never happened.
"Who are you people and what do you want?" He demanded using a tone he had never directed at me, my heart stalled and I found it hard to breathe as he looked down at me, I'd been too stunned to get back up just yet and it might cost me.
I ground my teeth, thankful I'd turned my voice modulator on and gave him the only answer I really could,
"I'm Batman."
