Chapter Fourteen

Daniel stood in the shadows of the large building, he had a hunch something was amiss December was never like that. Had she been telling the truth he knew that she would have been just as bold as ever, not like she was in the room. She was sad practically breaking down as she said the words. And the way she kept looking towards that door. He pulled up the hood to his ridding jacket and pushed down into the shadows as he heard someone exit threw the back doors of the large hotel.
A familiar voice drifted across to his ears. And he almost froze in place George his brother talked like he would had it been during the day, easily calmly.
"December cheer up" he said with a slight chuckle "You've got what you came to Colorado territory for, me."
"That may be why I originally came here" He heard December say angrily "but I couldn't be more thankful for the outcome of your death. Daniel is twice the man you'll ever be. "
Daniel couldn't help but smile at her, only December would be just as outspoken as ever in a life and death situation. He couldn't be more in love with her if he tried. He finally realized that he had loved her all along, ever since he saw her in her fancy city clothes marching into his saloon just as determined as ever.
"Don't talk about him! He took what wasn't his... you belong to me December Knight."
"I will talk about whoever I want. And George my names December Wade and I belong to no one I am not an object."
"It will do more harm than good if you continue to talk December." George said in a tone Daniel remembered easily. His brother had been far to spoiled growing up he had gotten anything he wanted. Their mother had clearly favored George, and Daniel was part to blame for that. He always felt guilty for their father leaving and being the oldest he was the man of the house, he had thought he was protecting his brother from countless whippings but instead he was feeding into his brother's criminal ways.
"I do not care." December said simply. Daniel could almost see her cross her arms and raise her chin slightly in her determined stubbornness he had grown very accustomed too. He loved her spunk; he loved everything about his Dear December.
He left to get his horse that waited not far from them. His plan was to follow at a distance, until the opportunity showed itself to save his wife and confront his brother.
"Lord please keep her safe... and please forgive me for everything... Amen" he sent the prayer heavenward. He knew December was sent to him by the almighty himself. She was everything he had ever wanted if he ever got her back he'd make sure to keep her safe and too tell her everyday how much he loved her, And how much he was blessed to have her as his wife.

George stared out the window of the stagecoach they had only just left the confines of the city and outside looked to be pitch black.
"Can I ask you why you are doing this?" December said breaking the silence "Why can't you just leave us be? You seem to have a life here... and Daniel has a life with me, why ruin it?"
"Well I-I um..." George was shocked at what December asked him. In all honesty he had no idea why he was doing this. He had a fiancé a different life, he could be anyone he wanted as Edgar he was a rich highly successful business man. But still he wasn't happy he always wanted more but never seemed to find it.
"Why do you want to be with a saloon owner?" George asked
"Oh George he's more than that... he's kind and caring and strong. He's protected me and Rhiannon and Laura and Jennie all this time... He's not even working at a saloon anymore... He's just a great man, although he can be very infuriating" she said looking towards him "Must be a family trait. He's still everything I've never knew I wanted."
