I couldn't believe after what I said to him yesterday that seemed like it would be our last time talking, here I was, standing shamelessly at his doorstep. I cursed under my breath for being such a busybody but I couldn't help it.

I swallowed the lump in my throat before pressing on the doorbell. I could care less about what he'd think of me after this but as long as I had made sure that he was alive, that'll do.

I stood there waiting for an answer, my inner organs felt like trembling as I wasn't sure what I should say first.

Minutes passed and there were no signs of someone opening the door anytime soon. I somehow felt relieved.

I took a deep breath and turned back. "Stupid Claire, what was I expecting anyway? That kid must've skipped school on purpose," I laughed at myself.

That was me being pathetic for the hundredth time.

Half of me was expecting that he'd never open the door for me, but the other half was expecting the opposite. Fate somehow decided that the latter should happen.

As if on cue, the door suddenly opened before I had completely left his doorstep and I was forced to turn around to be met with a hard chest. Thump. Thump.

Taehyung said nothing the moment our eyes met. Instead, he pulled me closer towards him and embraced me. I couldn't process what happened but it somehow led us to— hugging in front of his house as his neighbours started giving us weird looks.

Wait, no. He hugged me.

When he released, I wasn't able to face him. Taehyung probably noticed from my actions. He'd know when I would occasionally look away because of embarrassment. Either ways, I was the one who brought this upon myself.

"Y-Yah, Taehyung! It's really rude of you to hug anyone just like that," I stuttered, trying to break the awkward atmosphere.

"I see you're already used to calling me Taehyung now," he smiled knowingly.

I averted my gaze from him as I pretended to be rummaging through my bag. "This, I came here for this," I pulled out my all-in-one notebook, shoving it to him. "Ms Jung asked me to hand this to you since you called in sick," I added.

'Please, please, please do not accept the book.' I secretly prayed. It was my all-in-one notebook and I had to sacrifice it to save my face.
