An hour earlier (Third Person's POV)
"What did you do with Claire earlier?" Kim Tae Hee asked her son who seemed to be in deep thoughts.
"Nothing, we just strolled around and I brought her to the Book Centre," Taehyung answered as he saw his mom getting busy with something else. "What's that?"
"Oh, this? It's a four leaf clover bracelet, I thought I'll give this to Claire as an apology, and also as a symbol of good luck," she answered.
He furrowed an eyebrow before leaning forward, "Apology? What are you sorry for?"
"I knew last time you weren't aware of this but, we left to the US three years ago without telling the Han's family. A week after that, Ayeong contacted me, saying that her husband has passed away on the exact day that we left. She also mentioned about Claire not coming to school and has been under a lot of stress, even shutting herself away from her friends," she explained.
Taehyung paused for a moment as he tried to process her words, until something clicked inside his head.
"Mom! So you knew that Mr Han passed away but you didn't even let me know?" Taehyung stood up in rage as he shoot daggers towards his mom.
"Calm down and be respectful, Taehyung." She looked at him which was enough to made him sit back down on the couch.
"I knew well that you never agreed to move with us and you insisted to stay here. But I also know that you never told Claire that you were leaving, am I right?" Tae Hee asked as he looked down to his feet.
"You were afraid to hurt her but you ended up doing it. You already felt bad about not telling her that, and I didn't want you to blame yourself more if you knew about what happened to her father. I didn't want you to feel like a bad person, Tae," his mother finished.
Taehyung heaved a deep sigh as he grabbed a fistful of his hair and pulled it upwards to lessen down the uneasiness he was feeling.
Even so, had his mother told him about this earlier, he would've been able to deal with it rather than only knowing it after 3 years.
"I feel more like a bad person now. You knew everything but I didn't even have the tiniest bit of idea," he said in frustration.
"If you were me, you'd do the same," she said, but Taehyung had already stood up, heading to his room. He was of course, blaming himself.
