Chapter 6

As we reached the Galaxy I looked at Carol, she was completely glowing and it looked so beautiful. "I have to tell you that it will hurt for the wings to grow and so I might scream it out." I said and she smiled at me, "I'm prepared for it." She said and I nodded. The longer we flew through the Galaxy the more my wings began to grow. I softly grunted each time they started growing until the final part started I grabbed Carol's hand tighter and screamed and just as fast as the pain came, it left again. Carol grabbed my hand with her other hand and went behind me. I felt her hands over my back but not really over my back and I cleared my throat. "W-w-what are you doing?" I asked and she came next to me again. "I was touching your wings they're fully grown. The amount we flew was actually unnecessary since it counts as a few hours in earth time." She said and chuckled. "Let's try to see if you can control them."She said and I nodded we stayed in place and I took a deep breath and cleared my head to focus on my wings. I flapped my wings and smiled and Carol smiled approvingly at me. I focused on retracting my wings and just like that I pulled them in and they were gone. Carol stared at me and I looked just as shocked at her "D-D-Did I just do that?" I said and she nodded. "You're a natural Nina." She said and hugged me. "I'll take you back to my training area so you can learn how to fly and surprise your dad." She said, I smiled at her and nodded. "That sounds amazing thank you." I said and she turned us around. "Don't mention it." She said and winked. We slowly went back to earth and it looked so beautiful from a distance. Before I knew it we arrived at her training area. "Okay stay here." She said as she flew up. "NOW TRY TO REACH ME." She yelled at me, I took a deep breath and focused on my wings. I slowly went up but fell back down and fell flat on my stomach. "Ugh." I grunted but I was determined to get there. I crawled back up, took a deep breath and focused on it again. I still fell down multiple times but got higher each time. I was done falling and forgot about my surroundings all I saw was Carol and just like that I flew up to her. As soon as I realized I cheered and my focus got lost and so I fell back down, Carol caught me before I hit the ground. "You're doing well Nina." She said as she put me down. "Now we have to get you to fly up without fully focussing so that when you fly you can focus on other things like directions but also just talking." She said and smiled. I nodded and got in position I flew up and fell back down each time I stopped focussing. After a long time practicing I got it I looked down at Carol and I remembered my surroundings again, I stayed in the air and I cheered. Carol came up as well and high-fived me. "Now follow me." She said and started flying into all different directions without even thinking I followed her perfectly. "Hey Carol,watch this." I said as I flew up and did some screw turns and loops, I then rushed back down and made a soft landing as I retracted my wings. She came down to me and hugged me happily. "That was amazing! Let's bring you to your dad and surprise him." She said and nodded. "Wait let's get him to Stark Tower. That way not everybody will see me." I said and called Tony. "Hey, how is it up there?" He asked and I chuckled. "Well I have a surprise, can you come to Stark Tower?" I asked, it was quiet for a while "Sure." He said unsure. "Awesome please bring Pepper as well." I said before quickly hanging up. "Do you have something to drink first? So they have time to get there?" I asked Carol she chuckled and grabbed 2 cans of Coca Cola. We drank it while talking about how unreal this all is and when we were done we threw the cans away and went into the air. I called Tony on the way. "Hey dad please walk onto the balcony." I said as we were getting near. I saw him walking out with pepper and look around "right in front of you dad." I said while waving to him. I heard his phone fall and saw him wave softly. Carol and I chuckled and we landed on the balcony. "Hi dad." I said as I retracted my wings and his shock got bigger he grabbed my shoulders and turned me around. "Where'd they go?" He said softly. "Oh Tony, let her be." Pepper said as she walked over to me and hugged me. "Hi Nina, good to see you again. You changed much since the last time I saw you." She said and winked at me. I chuckled "Yeah I missed you." I said, she smiled at me. "Dad? Are you okay?" I asked as I turned back around. He looked at me and cleared his throat. "Yeah I'm fine honey, I was just in shock, I see you've been training with Carol. He said and I nodded. "Well that's good." He said and hugged me. "I'm so proud of you." He said softly as I hugged him back. "Thanks dad." I said and let out a breath of relieve. "Now dad, what was your plan, to show me I'm not a freak." I said getting down again while thinking of it. I heard Pepper gasp behind me and my dad smiled. "Well are you ready to meet the Avengers?" He asked and now it was my turn to gasp. "OMG YES OF COURSE!" I screamed and let out a fan girl squeak. He looked strictly at me. "Remember for now... I'm just Tony not dad, okay?" He said and I felt a worthless feeling taking over. "Yeah whatever." I said and started to walk inside. Tony stopped me and turned me around. "I do it for your protection, when people find out you are my daughter you'll become a target for enemies." He said and grabbed my hand. "You mean everything to me. I lost you once, I don't plan on doing that again." He said and pulled me into another hug. "Why didn't you just tell me?" I asked. "I'm already lying at school when they ask if I'm your daughter cause you asked me to. Now I'm an easy target for bullying because I carry your name but "am not family" of THE Tony Stark. There is only one person at school who doesn't care." I said softly "He is my best friend." I said as I pulled away. His eyes widen. "He, huh?" He asked and I got annoyed. "Really that is all you heard?" I said and wanted to walk away again. "I'm sorry Nina it's not what I meant, it was a joke, if it will make it better for you, you can be honest at school and if they don't believe you I'll just pick you up from school okay?" He said and I nodded. "Well let's go then." He said and kissed my forehead, he held me and Pepper by our shoulders and Pepper grabbed my hand. "It will be okay. He is right you know, you are not a freak." Pepper softly whispered to me and I smiled a little at her.
