The Perfect Ride

Chapter 9

My heart beat fast as we walked away from Jess. He was the only boy that I had ever made me feel that way.

"What'd he say to you?" Roz asks as we walked. I immediately smiled.

"He...he's amazing, Roz" I say. She rolled her eyes.

"Okay, but what did he say?" She says again using hand motions. I stopped dead in my tracks and looked at her.

"He said I was beautiful".

"Oh, lord. Here we go" She says and takes me by the arm and practically pulls me along with her. "You've done it now".

"Done what?" I ask. This time, she stopped and looked at me with a grin, but it wasn't a childish grin. It was a sweet grin.

"You're falling in love" She says. I couldn't help but smile at that. I let out a sigh.

"Yeah, maybe. But, how could I not? Jess Lockwood...he's special" I say. She smiled back. I knew she was right, and she was happy that she was. Honestly, so was I.

After Roz and I finished our interview, I went to the Starbucks across the street from the venue. Roz went back to the hotel. I ordered a Caramel Macchiato and sat down.

After about 15 minutes of being on Instagram and Twitter, I heard a voice.

"Can I join?". I look up to see Jess. He had a pink drink in his hand. I instantly laughed. "Don't you dare. I know what you're thinking, but these are delicious". He sat down.

"You know, you ride bulls for a living, but you do some pansy stuff" I say. He knew I was joking.

"Or maybe I have good taste" He says taking a gulp of his drink. I scoffed. "Well, I like you, now don't I?". That almost made me spit out my drink. I was shocked.

"You do?" I ask.

"I...do" He says. "Like I told you earlier...you're beautiful". My heart started beating fast again. I thought about what Ellie said about me falling in love on tour, but me saying that would bever happen. Hell, that was just my luck. I didnt think that it would, but that was before my heart became completely enamored with Jess Lockwood.

"I like you too, Jess. I...really do" I say. He smiled.

"So, it's settled then" He says acting like his cocky self. I raise an eyebrow. "You'll go on a date with me tonight?".

"Tonight?".

"Yeah. A singer I like is playing a little bar. Show starts at 11:00. I'm riding 1st tonight, so I can be done early and go. Now, I'm asking you, Sadie Rosen, to go with me" He says. I spoke without hesitation.

"Of course I'll go with you" I say. His dimples peaked through his cheeks and his blueish gray eyes sparked . He stood up and leaned down next to my ear.

"I'll see you tonight, darling" He says. His hot breath sent a shiver down my spine. Before I could say anything to him, he was gone. My heart was beating so fast and my hands were shaking. If this was what falling in love feels like, I was ready to be all in.

I got back to our hotel room and immediately told Roz that Jess and I now had a date. She was so excited.

"Funny how just the other day you were saying nothing was going on" She says. I shrugged my shoulders and sat down next to her on the couch.

"What can I say? I must be a sucker for a bull rider" I say. She laughed.

"Don't you rodeo people say cowboys break your heart?" She asks. I chuckled.

"My daddy used to say bull riders break more things than your heart, but mama always said the best kind of man to love was a bull rider" I say. "I think I'll take my mama's word for it".

"What will your parents say?" She asks.

"I don't know. Ellie told me I'd fall in love when I came on this tour, but I didn't think she'd be right" I say.

"Well, when she's the way you like Jess, she won't even care. She'll want you to be happy. Happiness is the most important thing" She says.

"Yeah, I hope your right" I say standing up from the couch.

"Well, let's go trick ride now, and later tonight, you get the guy" She says. I nod and agree. It was 5PM, but I was already counting down the seconds till the clock struck 11:00.
