A month had gone by. Jess and I had been together for four months, if you don't count our week split. We were touring still. Jess was still not riding and Roz definitely wasn't, but we were all as happy as ever. Cooper officially asked Roz to be his girlfriend while we were on the rooftop in Vancouver. She said yes! Ellie had gone back back Montana and Scotty had asked her to be his girlfriend..she said yes! And, I still wore my emerald promise ring in my finger, proudly.Today was Monday. August 2nd. Roz was officially 20 weeks pregnant and had quite a bump. So, that meant today was the day we found out what her little peanut would be. We were so excited.
"Come on, Roz. We're leaving" Cooper says trying to get her out the door of the hotel room. We were currently in Michigan.
"They can wait two seconds. Believe me, they'll wait for the baby and I have the baby" She says. Jess and I just laughed from the backseat of the car.
"Baby, please" He pleads as she piles into the car. He shut the door behind her.
"Boy or Girl?" I ask everyone.
"Boy" Cooper says.
"I don't want a boy, but I have a feeling it is" Roz agrees.
"Girl" Jess says. "I want it to be a boy so we can rodeo together, but girl".
"Auntie Sadie wants a girl too. I need a trick rider".
"My baby will not be trick riding or rodeoing" She says. "I know we do, but little peanut won't".
"Yeah, right" I say. We all knee her baby would grow up in that kind of setting. Kind of like Ellie and I did.
We pulled into the office and waited to be called back. Soon enough, Roz went back.
"Big crowd" The tech says as rox climbs onto the chair.
"Yes ma'am. Boyfriend, bestfeiend, boyfriend of bestfriend" She explains.
"It's good that this baby is already loved" The tech replies. "And IA very healthy. Look, here's the arm, the nose, legs".
"Man, she's beautiful, Roz" Jess says. He loved children. He squeezed my hand so tight seeing the babies sweet face on the screen.
"She looks just like you" I add. The baby had Roz's nose shape and lips. I hoped it had her auburn hair and blue eyes.
"That's my little one" She says tearfully.
"Your little girl" The tech adds. We all look over to her.
"Excuse me?" Roz says.
"It's a girl" She says again. Roz immediately broke down in tears and i hugged her. Jess then scooped me up into a hug. He knew how bad I wanted a neice. "You can pick up your pictures out front. Congratulations Ms. White".
"Thank you" She says before we all head outside of the building.
"I'm gonna call and let Ell know" I say. She nods.
E- hey, sister.
S- well, auntie ell...do you wanna know what little peanut is?
E- please tell me we got a girl.
S- we got a girl
E- yes!! i knew it. a little barrel racing, trick rider.
S- yeah, well, roz says she isn't going to be doing any rodeo, but if those boys and you and i have anything to do with it.
E- plus, her mother rides for a living. that baby will be in a horse before she walks.
S- amen to that. ill let you go now.
E- alrighty. bye, sis.
I hung up the phone and met back up with Jess, Roz, and Cooper.
"Sadie, do you wanna hit up some local shops?" Roz asks. Now that we knew she was having a girl, the shopping could begin. I looked at Jess.
"Go. Have fun. Coop and I will find something to do" He says. I kissed him.
"I love you" I say before scampering off with Roz. We found ourselves in a Carter's store.
"Man. Babies need lots of things. Diapers, wipes, bottles. The list goes on" She says.
"Well, you'll have Cooper and Jess and I to help you out" I say.
"You're gonna fly from Montana to Tennessee to bring me a pack of wipes? Jess is gonna fly from Texas to bring formula?" She asks. I just looked at her. "Sorry, that was uncalled for. I just...I'm scared I'll be raising this baby alone. I mean, I have Coop, but still".
"You won't be alone" I say.
"Sadie, please. I'm due right around the time tour ends. Do you really think you'll be there for the birth?" She asks.
"Roz, just stop. We aren't doing this now. We're not talking about this now. It's August. We're still all together. We'll worry about December when it gets here" I say.
"Fine, but it's right around the corner. And, it's coming faster than you think. You can't keep putting it off" She says.
"Come on, we're leaving" I say and begin to walk out. I knew what she was saying was right. It was already August. We only had five more months on tour. The past four had went by so fast. I knew the next couple would do the same. It scared me too, because once I was back to work in Montana, I didn't know if Jess would be part of my life anymore. Do I want him to be? Yes, I want him to be with me forever. But, was it possible with us living across.the country from one another...I don't know.
