We overcame the awkward silence. Mr. Riff and Kuya Harris talked about business while Mrs. Riff talked to Kuya Justin about modeling.

I took it as a chance to observe them.

Mr. Riff looks so cold, domineering, and calculating. Siya 'yong tipo ng tao na hindi mo dapat sinasayang ang oras dahil hindi mo magugustuhan kung magalit siya sa'yo.

Saturn's mom, on the other hand, looks more like a side character, like she's just there to make Mr. Riff look good. Even the gaze he gives her is cold. There's no hint of love in his eyes.

"So, Chloe, I haven't seen you in any of the parties. Or we just missed each other?"

Hindi ako kaagad nakasagot nang mabaling sa'kin ang kanyang atensyon.

"Hindi po ako gaanong sumasama sa mga party." I finally found my voice to speak.

She smiles. Wow, she looks really pretty. She probably looks like Ate Shanna when she was young.

I hate to admit it but Saturn took his physical aspects from his father. The only thing he got from his mother is the shape of her lips.

"Why did you take ABM, sweetie?"

Her voice is smooth like honey. If I can, I will listen to it all day. It's obvious that she's really gentle.

"I wanted to make my parents proud." Kinamot ko ang aking batok. Nahihiya ako sa aking isinagot kahit 'yon naman talaga ang dahilan.

"Oh, I'm sure they'll be proud of you." Hinawakan niya ang aking kamay. "By the way, how's Rian and Angelo?"

Tumingin ako kina Kuya Steff at Kuya Justin na sumali na ngayon sa usapan nina Kuya Harris at Mr. Riff.

"They're fine. Busy po sila sa work as usual."

Saglit akong napatingin kay Mr. Riff na mukhang wala ang atensyon sa usapan nila ng mga kuya ko. He kept giving us sideway glances like he was listening to our conversation.

"Sheena..." Mrs. Riff glances towards Mr. Riff who seems to be distracted. He look up when she mentioned my mother's name. "How is she?" Muling ibinaling ni Mrs. Riff ang tingin niya sa'kin at nakangiti siya na parang walang nangyari.

Nagtataka man sa inaakto nila ay hindi ko na 'yon masyadong pinagtuunan ng pansin.

"She's helping Dad to our business. Mostly, nagtatravel sila from one country to another."

Tumango-tango siya at hindi na nagtanong muli tungkol kina Mommy at Daddy.

Ang atensyon naman ni Mr. Riff ay nagbalik nang muli kina Kuya.

"I heard that you're Saturn's classmate. How is he at school?"

Nakita ko na naman sa gilid ng aking mga mata ang saglit na pagsulyap ni Mr. Riff.

Naalala ko ang mukha ni Saturn kanina sa school. Kinuyom ko ang aking kamao na nakapatong sa aking hita.

I smile, wishing she won't notice it's forced. "He's doing well, Mrs. Riff. Last time we had an exam in Math, he got a perfect score."
