Kylie woke up feeling every single ache in her body. She stretched out in bed and heard the bones popping, making her groan. Rubbing her face and yawning, Kylie rolled onto her side to check the time on her phone, startled to see it overrun with messages.
Amy, her mother, the girls, Jack and Grant had all messaged her. Groaning again, she dropped the phone back onto the reconstructed bedside table, threw back the doona and shuffled through the house, having to take check of her bearings. After the altercation with Nicole, Kylie had managed to – with Amy and the girls' help – set up the more essential items of the house, so she could plod straight through the hallway into her spotless, brand new kitchen and flick on the kettle.
Even from the kitchen, Kylie could hear her phone beginning to ping with more alerts, so with the kettle boiling away, she plodded back into her new bedroom, rolling into bed and checking her messages at last.
But the moment she became comfortable, felt a very familiar twinge, pushing her muscle aches to the side. Rolling her eyes, groaning, dropping her phone again and rolling out of bed once more, went to the bathroom and remembering the date – "that'd be right ...".
She was ever grateful in that moment Sophie had hooked up her washing machine while she had been busy helping Loz position the fridge, as she threw her clothes into the machine and stepped into the shower. At least she could give in to her usual fatigue and sleep this one away, having the week off.
Dosed up, sipping on an herbal tea, Kylie finally after three attempts, was able to reply to her messages, beginning with the girls.
Ali had taken yesterday and today off so she could help Kylie move. It was the first time Ali had swapped a shift in over a year and to be made by the director to pick up her original shift because someone else went walkabout was pretty lousy, in Kylie's opinion.
Kylie had a talent for lightening the mood by making fun of herself, especially when any of them weren't having a particularly good day. Admittedly, it worked for Ali who immediately leapt at the opportunity to tease Kylie about Jack.
