She smiled softly. Her hair was being slowly dragged over her shoulder ... his lips caressed her bare shoulder, towards her neck and leaving a trail of excited goosebumps. Her body covered only by the starched white bed sheet, tucked neatly under her side, wedged between her back and his chest. Keeping her eyes closed just so she could bask in this beautiful sensation, she was able to feel his hand resting on her hip, his fingertips gently pressing into her side. She could hear his body shuffle closer to her and the warmth of his body radiating, washing over her.
Kylie resisted opening her eyes for long as possible. She wanted to hear his voice, finding some enjoyment in pretending to sleep while Jack kissed her neck, dragging his masculine hands over her feminine figure.
"I know you're awake, Wombat ..." Jack whispered, sounding insatiably close behind her. Her cheeks were tinged pink as she tried so hard to not smile, to not let him see that he was right.
"Playing hard to get, huh? Kinda seven months late, but ok ..." Jack teased into her ear yet again, skimming his hands under the sheet and running his fingers along her sides until he reached her breasts, cupping them both in his warm hands.
"Mmm ..." Kylie tried not to let him win – but damn!
The way he pressed his lower body against her backside, she knew he heard her. Like a lion hunting a gazelle, he was moving in for the kill – or in this case, prove she was awake and responding to him.
Kylie scaled her right hand along her left side, tracing his muscular arm until she reached his shoulder. Jack withdrew his lips from her neck and kissed the diamond ring on her finger, at which point Kylie rolled over, looking up at Jack, a perfect grin on both their faces.
"Remind me what happened last night," Kylie beamed, blushing as she stared into Jack's hazel eyes, sparkling with the same sunshine that was drifting through the window. He grinned with pride and adoration at her, tucking his arm back towards him from under her side and propping himself up on his elbow.
"Hmm ... do you mean the third date, which was a private dinner here? Or that I drank champagne and white wine with you? Or that we had the best sex right here four times? Or ..." he could see Kylie's cheeks reddening as her smile widened.
"Maybe ..." he leant down slightly to whisper in her ear, "you mean when I asked you to marry me?"
"I still can't believe it happened!"
"Me either and I had this planned for weeks."
"But I'm so happy it has,"
Jack leant right down and kissed her, threading his fingers through her hair, pulling away just to say, "me too ... and you know, now I can't stop thinking about you one day being Kylie Brookes ... is that weird?"
Kylie couldn't help giggling like a little girl at him, biting her lip and blushing furiously.
"That you've only just realised I'll be changing my name and not when you decided you wanted to marry me? Yeah, a little weird!"
"You know what I meant, Wombat!" Jack chuckled softly, twisting a curly tendril of her red hair slowly around his finger, as if daydreaming.
"I suppose I do ..."
Their silent adoration for each other was broken crudely by Kylie's phone vibrating to life on the bedside table. Ali's picture lit up the screen and Lizzo's Good as Hell sung out loudly in the empty room. Jack and Kylie both spluttered with shameless laughter, but only until the fourth ring, when Kylie could feel Ali huffing impatiently for her to pick up.
