I'm only up when you're not down
Don't want to fly if you're still on the ground
It's like no matter what I do
Well, you drive me crazy half the time
The other half I'm only trying to let you know that what I feel is true
And I'm only me when I'm with you

"Y/N, wait up!" Peter exclaims, running to catch up with me. I laugh, slowing down.
"You going to the tower today?" I ask as he catches up. He stops, putting his hands on his knees as he catches his breath.
"No, I just needed to ask you something." He says, still hunched over. I raise an eyebrow.
"Okay... should I be worried?" I ask as Peter picks himself up and we start walking.
"Oh, no, not at all. Don't be worried. It's just..." He stops again, and so do I. "I was wondering... would you maybe want to go to, um, the dance with me? If you don't already have a date, obviously, because I'm sure you do, and it's totally fine, but-"
"No, no," I say, grinning. "I don't have a date. I would love to go with you." Peter breaks into a smile.
"Really?" He asks, and I laugh again.
"Yes, really." For some reason, I can't stop smiling. I can't believe I told Peter to ask MJ when I really just wanted him to ask me.
"Cool. Great. Um, okay. I'll see you tomorrow." He says, nodding.
"Okay. See you tomorrow." I reply, trying to keep the ever spreading grin off of my face.

"Hi, Y/N. Any trouble getting in today?" Pepper asks me as I enter Stark Towers.
"Not at all," I answer, still smiling. Pepper gives me an amused look.
"What are you so happy about?"
"Oh, nothing." I say, brushing it off. "Peter asked me to the dance."
She raises an eyebrow. "Peter Parker?" I nod. "You two weren't together already?"
I laugh. "No, we barely even knew each other until a couple weeks ago."
"Huh. I could have sworn you two were dating." She says, smiling too. Her phone beeps and she looks down, distracted. "I have to take this. See you later, honey."
"Bye, Pepper." I say, getting into the elevator. I hum along to the elevator music and try to calm down my cheerfulness knowing that everyone on the other side of the door will be way too nosy if I look this happy.
The elevator door dings and I step out, clutching my backpack with both hands. I smile, entering a room where Bucky and Sam sit, playing video games.
"Hi, Bucky. Hi, Sam." Sam smiles, only briefly looking away from his game to make eye contact with me.
"Someone's in a good mood." He comments, and I smile wider.
