Yes I'll make a resolution
That I'll never make another one
Just enjoy this ride on my trip around the sun

"So you're not telling Peter it's your birthday next week? You're dating." I can hear the disapproval in Betty's voice even through the phone.
"You know I don't like my birthday. It's not like anyone's going to find out anyways."
"The Avengers might. If they found out you were - well, you know who - they could probably figure out your birthday." She says, and I know she has a point.
"Well, I'll cross that bridge when I get there."
"He's going to think he's the worst boyfriend in the world, you know that right?"
"Oh, and you speak from experience now because you and Ned have been dating for, like, five minutes longer than we have?" I reply.
"No, I'm saying it because I know how human beings operate. If it was Ned's birthday and I didn't know I would feel like the worst, too."
"Betty, I don't like celebrating my birthday. My mom and I don't even do anything, we just get chinese food and watch a movie. That's all I want this year."
"But you're turning seventeen. Are you sure you don't want a party or anything?" I laugh.
"You ask every year and I always give you the same answer."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. Oh, I have to go, Ned's here."
"Oh, okay, bye. Tell Ned I say hi."
"Got it. I'll call you later. Love you."
"Mhm, love you, too." I say, and she disconnects before I can say anything else.

"Are you sure you have to leave so soon, honey? We don't even have time for a movie." My mom asks as I finish my Chinese food.
"I promised To- Mr. Stark - that I would work tonight. Sorry, Mom." I say, cleaning up my plate.
"It's fine, Y/N, but are you sure you want to work on your birthday? I mean, I know you're not a fan, but..."
"I like working. It's fun. I'm basically hanging out with the Avengers for free. It's perfect." Mom laughs as I kiss her on the cheek.
"Okay, baby. Just be careful."
"Always." I give her a grin before slipping out the door. Instead of flying like I usually do, I take the train. It's a quiet Saturday, and there's not a lot of people out or on the subway. I sigh as the cool wind hits my face as I exit the subway station, making my way to the tower.
Though I usually see Pepper when I enter the building, she's not there, so I check in quickly before heading upstairs. I tap my foot, wondering what Tony has planned for me tonight. Usually it's just a routine fly-around New York, but it could be about HYDRA.
The elevator doors open and I get off, looking around. All of the lights are off and I look around suspiciously. What is going on? I make my way into the Tony's office, expecting him to be there, but the room is dark with no one inside.
