We're headin' for Venus and still we stand tall
'Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all
With so many light years to go
And things to be found
I'm sure that we all miss her so
It's the final countdown

"Holy. Shit." Peter whispers. We stand in front of the vat of bubbling liquid, it's color casting a blue light onto Peter's face.
The vat is larger than I would have ever imagined and stretches out the entire warehouse. It's probably bigger than an Olympic sized swimming pool - or it's smaller, since I've never actually seen an Olympic sized swimming pool before.
"How do we even start destroying this thing?" Sam asks.
"It's too big for a force field," Wanda says. "Even with Y/N and I. The size of the vat - it would destroy the force field with it."
"And probably us too, right?" Bucky asks, to which Wanda nods. "Great." He mutters.
"Y/N can do those black hole things, right?" Rhodey asks.
"Yeah, in theory." Tony says.
"I don't know if I could," I admit. "I've only done it once and it was to save Wanda. I don't think I could let it just...happen." I watch Tony think before his eyes perk up.
"Then let's up the stakes." He says. I frown.
"What?"
"Rocket, give me a bomb." He demands, and Rocket hands him one. "You can manually shut these off, right?"
"No." Rocket answers.
"Great," Tony replies. I raise an eyebrow.
What the hell is he up to?
"Tony... what are you doing?" I ask suspiciously.
"Wanda, throw up some of the stuff, like as much as you can carry. Place the bomb inside of it." Tony ignores me and I watch as Wanda does as he says. "Great. Now everyone move away as Wanda puts it in front of Peter's face."
"What?!" Peter and I exclaim at the same time.
"Rocket, start that timer." Tony instructs, and Rocket does as he's told. "Y/N, you have three minutes until the bomb blows up and your boyfriend dies."
"Tony-" Nat starts, but Tony waves her off. My heart beats incredibly fast as I try to focus, staring at the inch of space between the bomb and Peter. Peter looks visibly frightened, and I try to convince myself that I can do this.
"Peter-" I whisper, trying not to freak out.
"It's okay," He says, his voice much calmer than his face let's on. "You can do it. I know you can."
I nod, trying to convince myself that he's right. I put my hands up to try to create something, anything, that is similar to the black hole, but nothing is coming. I'm too panicked. I can barely even muster up any energy.
"One minute," Tony says.
"Tony, I don't think this is a good idea." Wanda says worriedly.
"Thirty seconds," He says. I focus on Peter's face. Peter, my boyfriend. Peter, who danced on the roof with me. Peter, who set up a sunset churro date because I once mentioned I never had tried them before.
"Ten seconds." Tony says, and I feel my heart rate start to go up. I hear a loud ticking noise coming from the bomb and the edges of my vision start to blur.
Stop.
You can do this.
Focus.
Peter needs you.
"Three seconds," He says. "Two seconds. One second. The bomb is about to-" I close my eyes and throw my hands up, hearing an explosion. Wanda screams.
I don't open them for a minute, too afraid to even move. There's definitely a heavy flow of tears falling down my face and I'm definitely shaking, but all I can think about is Peter.
Who I probably just killed.
"Y/N," A voice says softly. I open my eyes, and to my utter relief, it's Peter, safe and sound. "You did it."
"I told you she could," Tony grins. "Nice work, kid." I give a relieved laugh and watch as Wanda moves large amounts of the liquid into the black hole I have sustained in the air.
I ignore the ache in my arms and hold it as long as I can until there is a manageable amount of liquid left. She nods, and I take it as a signal to let go, and my arms collapse down to my sides.
That was exhausting.
"Okay, let's blow the rest to Hell." Rocket says, and I watch as he and a few others distribute the bombs through the warehouse.
Peter, sensing my exhaustion, places a hand on the small of my back as we walk out of the building. I lean into him, grateful for his support.
"You did great, kiddo." Natasha says, smiling warmly at me.
"Thank you," I reply.
"I think everyone's accounted for," Steve says, looking around. He turns towards Wanda. "You ready?" She nods, and I watch as she creates a force field around the entire building with much more ease than I could have done.
"Blow it up!" Tony says, and I watch Groot press a button. The entire building explodes in one; an array of fire and blue smoke. The force field stays in tact, but to be safe I bury my head into Peter's neck.
The noise of the explosion quiets down and suddenly it's over. All that's left is us, standing in front of the remains the warehouse, which is completely destroyed.
"Come on," Steve says. "It's time to go home."
"That's it?" I ask. "How do we know it's really over?"
"Well, we don't." Natasha answers.
"We'll deal with fallout for a few months and then it's really over." Clint explains. "Hopefully we destroyed the bulk of it."
"Hopefully," Wanda echoes.
"Now let's go home," Thor says. "I haven't been able to have a Pop Tart since I've gotten here and I think it is about time to celebrate."
Everyone laughs as we board the Quinjet, and for once, it doesn't feel so forced.
