THIRTEEN TWIST AND SHOUT

(AND TURN ABOUT)

—✧—✧—✧—✧—✧—

THE NIGHT OF Christmas Eve, Delia's pacing around her dorm. She's tried on her dress robes that her parents sent earlier, and they fit like a dream. The only problem, though, is that she can't find a decent pair of shoes to match her dress for the life of her. Which, sounds a bit ridiculous when she says it out loud to the girls in her dorm because Delia's pretty sure that she's brought every pair of shoes that she's ever owned, with her to Hogwarts.

Millicent is laughing at the situation, while Tracey is enjoying a plate of cookies she swiped from the Great Hall after dinner. Daphne's fallen asleep and the sounds of her light snores fill the room (Delia's come to realise that the girl can sleep through pretty much anything), and Pansy's the only one who even seems to be trying to help Delia in her predicament. Bless her — this is why they're best friends.

Delia's thankful that she had Pansy by her side when she managed to convince Fleur to wear different coloured dress robes. Since originally Fleur was going to wear a shade of green, which Delia decided was absolutely unacceptable since she was going to wear a green dress. Even if they were different shades of the same colour, it didn't matter. Delia and Fleur couldn't both be wearing green. So she'd managed to convince Fleur to opt for a silver coloured one instead. It ended up working in both of their favours. Delia will the only one wearing green and Fleur looks great in anything.

But other than that, everything's been fine. She's got a date to the ball, she's got a dress, and she's got her entire look planned out. Even her friends are prepared. They've got their dresses and dates. Delia considers herself lucky — not everyone had found it as easy as her.

Like, she knows that Harry's had a hard time finding a date. And she only knows this because the other day Pansy scowled at him when they walked by and scoffed about how, "Potter still can't get a date." Delia figures that it's a bit rude she found out from Pansy and not Harry himself — but whatever. She thought that they had a sort of alliance because of the tournament, but whatever. Apparently not, because ever since she told him they can't meet up anymore, he hasn't been talking to her — and has just been blatantly ignoring her.

She only found out that Harry had finally gotten a date from Pansy, again. When the two of them were just lounging in the common room and the topic of dates came up — since Pansy was just asked by Draco. "I hear Potter's going with Patil," Pansy had said. Delia had frowned, then. "Which one?" she asked. Pansy had shrugged. "Probably the one in Gryffindor. Weasley's going with the other one. Don't know how those two managed to score the both of them. They're beautiful." And that was that. Delia knows the Patil twins — not personally, of course — but she's seen them around. They're gorgeous. Her stomach had twisted the slightest bit at the thought of Harry going with one of them.
