SEVEN STICKS AND STONES

—✧—✧—✧—✧—✧—

DELIA THORNE is a lot of things.

The (self-proclaimed) best dancer she's ever known. A natural-born leader. A quick learner. A girl who knows which aspects of her personality to use for specific situations. Someone who's extremely loyal to those she cares about. An overachiever. A touch self-involved. A girl with a photographic memory. An almost killer (which wasn't her fault!)

She's the daughter of two hardworking lawyers, Gianna and Vincent Thorne. A miracle child — born after the doctors had told her mother that she couldn't have children. Delia knows the story by heart now. Her mother and father had both wanted a child for the longest time, but Gianna wasn't able to conceive; when they went to the doctors they all told them the same thing.

Then, one morning, Gianna woke up and found herself sick, she thought nothing of it but then, eventually, she took the test and came to realise that she was pregnant.

They gave their daughter four names, instead of the usual three. Originally, Gianna wanted to name their daughter Juliet after Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Her father hated the name. Said that if they named her Juliet, it would remind him of his secondary school boyfriend, Romeo. His first love. Of course, Gianna didn't want her husband to be thinking of his first love whenever he called for his daughter so they settled on Cordelia, Delia for short. After Vincent's favourite Shakespeare play; King Lear. Then came her two middle names: Aurora — after Gianna's favourite princess, Sleeping Beauty, and Genevieve — after Gianna's late grandmother. Finally came Thorne, her father's last name.

Her name's been thrown around quite a bit since her limited time at Hogwarts. How could it not be? Someone coming into their first year of school here during their fourth year. How she was sorted into Slytherin and almost instantaneously had the entire house wrapped around her finger. (Although, Delia doesn't consider it all that strange because it's not like any other house wants to be friendly with her. All the Slytherins have are each other.) And how for someone who's only just started school here, she's clever and knows her stuff.

Quickly, Delia came to learn the key elements which her house stood for and began to associate herself more with them. Slytherin's are ambitious, cunning leaders, loyal, and clever. All of which Delia knows she is. She doesn't want to be in any other house since it's pretty obvious that Slytherin's the best. Duh! So Delia's a Slytherin, through and through; and she's proud of it!!

And now... Delia Thorne is a champion.

Which, she's always known she's been something along the lines of a champion, but now she actually is one. For the Triwizard Tournament — a tournament she didn't enter. Delia doesn't think she was ever even near the Goblet of Fire during her time at Hogwarts. It's all very strange strange, and besides, she couldn't have put her name in the goblet even if she wanted to. There was an age line, which even she couldn't get past. Not that she tried, or anything.
