AN: There is a bit of a time skip so yeah
—A month had gone by since the whole incident. It didn't feel like a month to anyone, but especially Neville. He felt like he was living the same day over and over again, and that it would never stop.
All the boy seemed to do was cry and go to his classes. He didn't speak a lot, and when he did, he was very short with whoever was on the other side of the "conversation". His friends worried dearly about him. He was falling into a deep depression and no one, not even Trevor, could seem to pull him out of it. Neville had even stopped going to the Greenhouse, the only place where he seemed to ever have some sense of serenity. Professor Sprout had noticed this, and asked him why he no longer offered to help her after classes, and he simply replied with, "Just too busy. Sorry..."
Of course Sofia was just as worse as he was. Her days seem to all fade together, and they quickly became clouded to the point where she couldn't even remember what she had eaten that day. But, it wasn't just because of Neville. Her Mother had written her multiple times, and the letters were always alarming. She told Sofia about her Father's decline, and how at the end of January, he could barely move from his bed.
This stressed Sofia out. Not only just because she knew that he was close to shutting his eyes permanently, but also, walking was the thing he loved the most. He hated using his cane, because he felt as if it immobilized him. Plus, walking in nature had always been his peaceful place. His coping mechanism. His sense of security. And now, he was practically bed ridden.
Sofia would cry all the time, just as much as Neville did. She tried not to make her emotions so obvious, but Lily always heard her silent sobbing. Her friend knew how much of a toll this was taking on Sofia.
And, this was probably the worst part. Waiting. Sofia had been keeping track of the days ever since she had gotten back from Christmas holiday, but now, she would stare at her calendar that hung on her wall for at least 10 minutes everyday.
Sofia came to the realization that when she would have nightmares, she couldn't go to Neville anymore. So, she would just sit up, hold her locket close to her, and hug Frank until she fell back asleep.
Hermione one night, had noticed Sofia sitting up, just staring at her locket. She knew that Sofia was just staring at the picture inside. Hermione never pushed, never asked what was wrong, because she knew. Everyone knew.
Over this time, though, Sofia had become closer to Seamus.
An oddball that boy was, Sofia always thought. But, he was quite hilarious. Even on days where she felt like she couldn't feel a thing, Seamus always managed to put a smile on her face. Usually, of course, that was due to him accidentally blowing something up in Potions.
Neville knew about Sofia and Seamus's time together, and he felt a bit betrayed by his so called "best friend". He would watch them at breakfast, and watch the way Seamus and her threw toast at each other and laugh. At one point, he had gotten so angry about it, he simply just stopped attending breakfast. He would just go to the library and read.
Something more smaller bothered Sofia, though.
Bransen.
Ever since she practically embarrassed the life out of him, all of his friends had stopped hanging out with him. People gossiped about him, laughed at him when he would walk pass. He sat alone at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall.
