Sofia Cherith looked out into the woods, the wind blowing through her hair. She watched as Black Lake's tides slowly moved, almost like a dance that had been practiced multiple times. The chilly weather nipped at her nose, causing it to turn red. But, she simply sat.

"So... what now?"

She looked over, and saw Neville folding the letter back up. She breathed in, letting the cold seep into her throat.

"Not sure." she responded, turning her head back to watch the still forest that sat in front of her.

Neville was right. Their spot was the perfect place for thinking. It was the place for taking things in, and letting them all out. The air was always perfect, even in cold or hot conditions.

"Do—" Neville paused his sentence to think, "D-Do you forgive him?"

Sofia thought for a moment, still not looking at him in the eyes.

The letter had done something to her. Made her realize a few things about herself. It was like a reality check passed to her on a piece of parchment. And, she surely never believed that one of the most spiteful people she had ever met, would be the one to give it to her.

She grabbed the letter out his hand, and began to rip it into shreds. Neville furrowed his eyebrows as she did so, not understanding what her intentions were.

"What are you doing, Sof?"

Sofia ignored his question, and only held the shreds of paper in her palms.

He watched as she blew the bits, and how they seemed to blow away into the wind. Sofia stared at them, until they blended into the clouds, never to be seen again.

The two sat in silence for a few more moments,

"I don't forgive him..." Sofia suddenly spoke up, a knot of stress breaking from the inside of Neville's stomach. "I'm just... moving on."

Neville only nodded, and scooted closer to the girl. His arm wrapped around her waist, and he kissed her cheek. She embraced the boy's body heat, closing in the tiny gap that remained in between them.

"He was right about one thing..."

Sofia finally looked up at him, and he looked back down at her. "And, what is that?"

"You deserve a happy ending, Sof. Even if... I'm not apart of it."

Neville knew he sounded selfish. But, Sofia made him selfish. She brought out traits in him that Neville himself had zero knowledge of,

"You deserve the world, Sof. But... the world just doesn't deserve you."
