Adam and Aurora were walking in the hallway, holding hands, when a shout caught their attention.
"Oh, look! Aurora and her little toy!"
They spun around to see Devon, the boy who had told Aurora that dating Adam was social suicide.
"Listen here, dipwad, no one cares what you think so shut up." James said, seeing the scene.
But Devon wasn't finished, apparently.
"He's a teacher's pet! And look at his glasses! How does he not have a hunch back with those things? And his hair looks dyed! You want a guy with dyed hair? I bet he's gay!"
That was it for Aurora. She withdrew her hand from Adam's and stormed over to Devon.
"Come to kiss a real man, sweetheart?" He asked, smirking.
And then Aurora slapped him.
There was a collective gasp throughout the hall.
"Now you listen to me, you little shit. Adam is not gay, he does not dye his hair, and he has bad eyesight. You on the other hand, do indeed dye your hair because if I recall correctly your hair was brown when we were kids. It just didn't turn this shade of blond on its own. And I've heard that you're just jealous because you've been vying for my attention for a year now, and Adam got it within a day. So shut up, before I make you shut up."
Devon stood there wide-eyed. He looked around the hall and even the teachers had slight smiles on their faces.
Aurora spun on her heel, and made her way back to Adam. His mouth was in a perfect 'o' and then he broke into a smile.
The walked out to the parking lot and Aurora pulled Adam to her truck. They got inside and she looked over at him.
"Are you okay?"
He looked up at her, shocked. "You just defended me against a huge bully that nearly half the school fears and you ask if I'm okay?"
She shrugged. "Well I wasn't about to let him talk to you like that. He had absolutely no right."
He smiled and leaned over the seat the kiss her.
After a brief brush of their lips, Adam grinned at her and asked, "You want to meet my family tonight?"
She grinned back at him, "Absolutely."
