After an uneventful math class, the bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Aurora had to run to catch up to Adam, who leaped from his seat and out of the room as soon as the bell sounded.
"Adam! Wait up!" she called after him.
He turned and waited for her hesitantly.
When she reached him, she started asking her questions.
"Why such the big rush? And what's really wrong? You don't think you were fooling me, did you?"
Adam sighed and ran a hand through his tousled black hair.
"I just thought you'd think I was a loser." he said in a small voice.
Behind his thick lenses, Aurora could see the pain in his eyes as he said that.
"Adam, you aren't a loser. You're just smarter than the rest of our class, which is way cool if you ask me." she said with a small smile.
"You really think so?" he asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Of course! The only thing I'm better at is poetry, and no one seems to care about that," she admitted.
He smiled at her and said, "You know, I'm a big poetry geek. You'll have to show me yours sometime."
She blushed a little, but nodded.
"So, you're coming over to work on the English assignment?" she asked quickly.
He grinned. "Of course, my lady."
She laughed and grabbed his hand. "The let's get to my car, and on our way!"
She drug him into the parking lot and into her old 1958 Chevy Apache truck.
He gasped. "You drive a truck?"
Aurora rolled her eyes. "Yes, I do. I happen to like it very much, thank you."
The long trip to Aurora's home began as she started her truck and left the parking lot.
