Adam led Aurora into his house, smiling widely. His mother met them at the door.
"Hello, dear! You must be Aurora," the woman with black hair that matched Adam's said.
"Hello, Mrs. Walker," Aurora replied shyly. She'd never met a boy's parents before.
"Please call me Erin, dear," she said with a smile.
Erin led them into the kitchen where Adam's father and brother were sitting.
His father stood up and looked between Adam and Aurora. "Hello, there."
They introduced themselves and Aurora learned that his father's name was Andrew and his brother's name was Henri.
They talked about insignificant nothings and then had pizza for dinner.
They joked and Aurora felt like she'd known the family for ages. After they were done, Aurora helped Erin with the dishes.
"He's never brought a girl home before, you know." Erin said, eyes twinkling.
"Really? But he's so handsome." Aurora mused.
Erin smiled kindly at her. "I think you're just what he needs, dear."
Once the dishes were done, Adam walked Aurora out to her truck.
"They love you," he said, smiling.
"Really? I was so nervous at first."
He hugged her, burying his face in her hair. "As if Aurora Jones ever needs to be nervous. She's got everyone wrapped around her little finger."
She rolled her eyes and he gave her a peck on the cheek.
"See you tomorrow," she said as she got into her truck.
Maybe the day wasn't the best, but it wasn't completely horrible.
