Tails and Whisper

Few months ago 

"Wh- What are you talking about!? Shadow would never do that!" Maria shouted from hearing that Shadow had turned evil. "He would nev... He would..."  Maria at the time had no idea what was going on. 

"I'm sorry to break it to you. But he's helping Eggman." Knuckles said breaking the news to her. 

She only just joined the war to fight with the rebellion. She also didn't know what Shadow was like during this time. So she had no choice but to believe them. 

"I sure he has some sort of explanation. You never know. Maybe Eggman did something to him." Gadget said trying to make her feel better. 

"You really think so?" Maria asked. "I know so." Gadget replied. Maria stared at him while blushing for a bit. "Thanks." 

Present 

I want to repay him for his kindness. Maria thought. 

Maria knocked on the door hoping for a response. "Go away Maria." Gadget said through the door. "How'd you know it was me?" Maria asked. "You're one of my best friends. I knew you'd probably try to comfort me." Gadget explained. 

"Well you were right. Can I come in?" She asked hoping for a yes. "I'd rather not. I need some time to think to myself." He told her. "Well you didn't say no. Excuse me." Maria walked in his room and sat down on his bed next to where he was laying. 

"Do you want to talk about it?" Maria asked. "No." He said depressingly. Maria looked at him with her sad eyes. She's never seen him like this before. Normally he's cheerful and tries to be on the bright side of things. 

They both sat and laid there silent. "Do you think he's really gone?" Gadget asked her. Maria stayed silent as she looked at him. 

She tried to sound as confident as she could."I'm sure he's out there. I know he's out there. And I'll be with you every step of the way until then."  

Gadget looked at her feeling a bit better. "Thanks. I feel a bit better." "No problem." Maria and Gadget smiled at each other. 

"I'm always here if you need me." Maria said relieved that he was feeling better. "Ok." Gadget told her.

Meanwhile

Tails was in the middle of a battlefield. He's been trying to track Eggman the last few months and recently discovered a base. For a different reason that Knuckles and the others would think. And in the process was also destroying the robots.

"There it is. Hopefully I can find him here. Hm?" Tails said talking to himself. He noticed someone trying to infiltrate the same base. He silently flew down and covered the wolf's mouth.

"Don't scream. I'm a friend. I'm letting go." Tails said slowly letting go of the wolf's mouth. 

"Who are you? How do I know if you're lying?" The Wolf asked quietly. 

"I assume you're invading here? It's not best to do by yourself. C'mon let's get you home." Tails told the Wolf as he grabbed her hand. The Wolf flipped Tails over and he laid on his back. "Ow." Tails lazily said.

"I guess you have some experience." Tails said. "This coming from what? A 5 year old?" The Wolf said obviously looking down on him. 

"8. But that's not the point." Tails tried to ignore her. "Who are you? And why are you here?" Tails asked. "Not telling." Whisper said sternly.

"Aw come on. Fine. I'm Miles Prower. But my friends call me Tails." Tails said like everything was fine while holding his hand for a shake. "Nice to meet you. Miles Per Hour." She said while laughing on the inside.
